Jesse with another layup. 58-44.

VI with a layup from their 7 footer who checks in for the first time. 58-46.

The 7 footer then hacks Carter.

Jesse misses a 3.

VI on the line...

First is good.
Second is good.

62-48.

Evan will go to the line. Their big man is reallllllyyyy bad, apparently. Proof that you might be "big" but not have a good team in the paint.

Evan splits his FT's, 63-48.

VI gets 2. 63-50.

John Caleb misses another three.

Sommy blocks an attempted alley oop.

7:04 left.

68-56, Evan hits a 3, 71-56.

Gordon fouled and will go to the line.

With Jesse, Evan, John Brown, and Antwan we have 4 solid players 1-4. If we can get that 5th (hopefully Carter/JVP) we could be pretty good.

Jesse with 12 pts, 9 boards, and 7 assists
Gordon with 21 pts
John Brown with 18 and 16

I agree completely, and although jenkins will hate it, I'd think Minaya or Chene would make a good 5th player with no true center. (But, but, we'll get no rebounds!)

80-63, approaching a minute left.

Sommy with a put back.

Tanner Hoyt, number 5, checked into the game. Who is that? He's not even on the roster!

Layer post-game...

First half- Disappointing. Quick to shoot, played hard, but didn't execute.

Some positives. John Brown was unbelievable.

Team was not in a groove offensively.

We're good, but we have to get a lot better to face teams like Notre Dame.

Some good stuff, just not enough.

Its a glorified scrimmage but at least it is one where witnesses were allowed in to watch. It sounds like there is plenty to be worked out in the next week or so before the level of competition steps up considerably.

It sounds like we may have really found a gem in Brown.

Evan was 6-15 from 3. That's a whole lot of shots from beyond the arc.

Liked seeing Sommy get some time off the bench. I'm a little puzzled at Carter not seeing more time -- he didn't look good though when he was out there.

John Brown is an animal. Best Flames debut ever?

Jesse -Solid and gritty as always
Evan - a real solid player and a great shooter
John Brown - I am very impressed. he will be very good.
Sommy - Needs some composure, but he has the body and speed to be good.
J.C. - looked a bit scared
Manaya - solid performance
Every one else very inconsistent/

just getting home, but the guys played well in front of a nice crowd. very impressed with john brown and liked what i saw from chene phillips. sommy is raw but could be very good. jesse looked like he was back to his old form, and evan was fantastic.antwan looked off tonight as well. we had a lot of open looks and missed quite a bit, but its a good opening win and im liking what the new guys bring to the table.

Agree with all this John Brown obviously the most impressive. But on a potential level I loved the athleticism and size that Sommy brings he could be a huge plus as the season goes on. It will also be interesting to see how JC does he struggled tonight but don't want to look into that too much I mean it's his first game at the college DI level.
