By the way, that App state game, where we almost beat them at our place around that time, was close to the crowd that we have now, which makes a good point. I would stay for the whole game now, since I appreciate LU football more now and I live out of state, whether the game is close or not. But back in the day, why would I stay for a game after halftime, if were blowing out a team like Wingate or North Greenville? All there going to do in 2nd half is run the clock out which is about exciting as watching paint dry. Back in the day after halftime, we would either go to Gene's Pool Hall or Movies 10, which is more exciting than watching a team run the ball over and over. People will stay for close games against good teams--Youngstown State's and the JMU. I know were all obsessed about playing the other Virginia teams, but there are other decent teams in the country that would trade off a home to home.

jeff barber has said publicly we will play a home and home with any team in the country. no one wants to come to lynchburg. were too good to be an easy win but not seen as good enough to where we are a good loss. until we win in the playoffs and our reputation changes its probobly going to stay that way, stuck in scheduling purgatory.
if only bad teams will come here than no one will get excited about the program.

My .02... Start times for home games should either be 12:00 or 7:00. The 3:30 time is just not a great time for starting a game. You have lighting issues by starting the game in light and finishing in the dark. 3:30 is also too far removed from lunch where people start getting hungry. Why don't we have 12:00 or even 1:00 kickoff times? Only the season opener against St.Francis was at 12:00. I'm guessing the 3:30 oddball time is for TV, but it blows!

Issue #3 -- this thread. REALLY classy on the part of the OP to throw out an insult to all of us right at the beginning of his post. Sorry you had to sign up to tell us all off, hope you don't waste much more time around here unless you're going to be constructive.

Really classy? I had signed up a few weeks or months before the post actually. But that isn't the case. I started this thread for two reasons. One taking up for students who do stay the entire game. And secondly to get people's ideas on how to get everyone, including students to stay. I am sorry I became an issue of why you may leave early.

I like the idea of having a contest for students that stay the whole game. It would be easy for LU to do. Just swipe our IDs to get in the game, and swipe when we leave the fourth quarter as well. Also having nothing else on campus open is a wonderful idea. Marshall does just that! Let's keep ideas coming in, it would be awesome to see an idea hatched here become a reality!

I am sorry I became an issue of why you may leave early.

I've never left a game early in my life. The few I get to go to anymore I make sure I stay for the whole thing, and I get there early if I can. I've got a slightly longer trip than you do, though .....

The issue I had, and I have it frequently with new posters, is that the very first post you make is essentially an insult to everyone on the board. You might actually find this a fun place to waste time if you didn't do that quite so much.
