To add to my thoughts:

We're capable of winning our last two games with Mike at QB.

He's not a bad QB.

I just don't think him at QB is our best combination of players, that's all. He is a lot like McNabb, he's a really good player who does really frustrating things.

I left early today for the first time in memory. We left with about 6 minutes to go in the 4th, it was pretty cold.
We are not going to win both of the next two games if MB is the leading rusher. We basically don't have a running game. SCH is too small and breaks few if any tackles. I would like to see us use 48 much more than we do. Don't remember a pass to the TE tonight. Too predictable still.
Not complaining just saying....... Will be happy to win two more ugly games and get to the playoffs.
Is the game on TV anywhere next week?

there are actually parts of that I agree with, but only in the sense of Mike as the starter and Tyler getting more looks. Other than that, Danny is the coach and Mike is the man!

Can we please retire red jacket dude? It's getting to the point that I dread getting close to game time. I think our side said "U" about 3 times before it was just silence. And a correction about never having close games to keep people after halftime, the CSU game was close at the half and they still left.

I really wish we could find a consistent run game other than Brown. I just can't help but think he can't keep taking such a beating.

Liberty's last three games against Gardner-Webb had been lopsided affairs and today was no different. Danny Rocco watched William Campbell product Danny Broggin return the opening kick 85 yards to five LU a 7-nothing lead.

SirChauncey Holloway (24) blocks for Mike Brown (10) during Liberty's 40-14 victory over Gardner-Webb at Williams Stadium.

A game-opening kickoff return for a touchdown set the tone early for the Flames, propelling No. 14/12 Liberty to a 40-14 Big South win over Gardner-Webb, Saturday afternoon, in front of 16,441 fans at Williams Stadium on Military Appreciation Day.

The win, Liberty's fifth in a row, ups the Flames' record to 7-2 on the season and 4-0 in Big South play. This is the fourth year in row Liberty has started its conference season 4-0.

Our D was stellar. Not sure why some of you said they were just ok. GW couldn't sustain aything offensively. Their 1st half score was due primarily to 2 long plays and then obviously our turnover led to their 2nd td. We consistently had pressure on their QB.

We were good enough to win on offense and that's all that matters to me. I think we will open up our playbook more these last 2 games by using Gagliardi like we did against CSU. We obviously haven't needed him since then.

Should be an exciting next 2 weeks.

8. The student stampede after halftime was an embarassment. I just can't believe it esp. after Barber's pep talk in convo. However, both Town and student side was disappointing in their lack of sticking around.
Other then winning more big games I'm not sure what will keep the student side in there seats. Although I don't think the Barber pep talk did much of anything to help. From what I've heard it was...less than inspiring. But the student side is ridiculous.

D was the best it's been all year (Better than JMU, since G-W has a balanced offense and that's always been our biggest challenge).

Like I said, this defense can win our last two games. The offense just needs to do enough. If the defense doesn't show, however, we need to open the playbook a LOT.

I think the D will show. CCU's offense is alot like GW's, but just a little more athletic. SBU is a run first second and third oriented team so I think we'll be fine there (see JMU game).

the d has really come around since the earlier when we were all fussing about it. The only plays we got burned on was a hot read on an all out blitz and a just a beautiful throw to there receiver that was 6'4. Since we switched to playing that 4-3 in running situations the defense really looks good. Of course we have played an explosive offense since then either. Our schedule has been really weird this year. All the tough games are stacked up in 2 spurts. Hopefully we come out of this one 2 and 0

Got into the stadium with about 8 min. left in the 2nd qtr. Missed two scores while walking from LaHaye to Williams

I thought we looked alright. Running game was once again a non-factor. MB is hurting and makes some good and bad passes/decisions seemingly every game. Is it just me, or is the defense shoring up? Is it a pipe dream to hold CC and SB under 21 points? If we can continue to win in-spite of a non-existent running game and MB's McNabbesque playmaking then I'm all for it.

Side bar-

1. The girlfriend complained all game about the cold, but never once asked to leave early, even with the game well in hand. Why? Because we were having fun with friends and watching some good football. She is an LU hater 'cause she grew up in L-burg, and generally is not a big sports fan. No one will ever catch her sneaking a peek at ESPN or watching a sporting event alone. But she likes going to LU football, hockey, and baseball games and never asks to leave early. She even stayed for the entire rainy JMU game last year without too much complaining. Long story short, SHE, the LU hater, is a better fan than most of the LU student body.

2. 6 years a fan now, 4 as a student and 2 as an alumni. I FINALLY got one of those T-shirts the cheerleaders throw around. Second deck, sling shot, waving my arms and lime-green soccer socks. A little to the right, pushed the girlfriend down in hopes of getting to the shirt before her and my other friends. She got to it first though and then proceeded to berate me and threw the shirt at me. Thankfully she was a pretty good sport about it and found the whole incident pretty funny. Sports truly does turn men into little boys...the shirt fits perfectly by the way

Still haven't gotten one in the 4 years I've been an alum and I've been at every home game in those 4 years save for two. When I was a student I used to get one at the basketball games nearly every game.

My initial reaction to the game was that it was a solid win, but too many mistakes. After thinking about it, I am actually pretty impressed that we could have all those turnovers and penalties and still beat a pretty good G-W team easily, even if they weren't at full strength. (Actually, we have some pretty significant injury losses ourselves). I think we can win ugly against CCU and SBU even with mistakes. If we play to capability, noone in this conference can hang with us.

our defense was outstanding yesterday. yeah we will give up a big play from time to time, but the D was solid. offensively, we settled for too many FG's but a solid performance. really hoping mike brown can stay healthy. we need him to win. special teams play was solid too. agreed that it appears bevins has his game back which is a plus. the student side again disappointed with the mass exodus at halftime....pretty sad. I hear Jr. is getting pretty upset about that so hopefully some good ideas will be put on the table to address it. hoping for a good performance on the road next weekend.

No, the only way to keep students at a game (other than caring about football obviously), is if they feel their seat is of some kind of value. IF there were a limited number of student seats, I bet you'd see more of them staying. The only problem is, we're not in a position to be turning any of them away in the first place. I think this is something you'll always see until you get to the point where there's enough paying seat holders to have to limit the students seats. And that's many many years away. We'll just have to complain about it until then.

Just re-watched the game, and I have to say I completely disagree with the negative words towards Chauncey and the running game. If you look at the stats, that fumble that popped out 20 yards towards GW's endzone goes against his yardage total. If not for that play, he is our leading rusher and probably ends up close to, if not over, 100 yards for the game. After that fumble he was pulled, and rightly so. He was getting pretty solid chunks of 7-8 yds at a time.

That's 2 very good games for him. I think we have our running back.

Manson, it was all in the second half when Liberty already led 30-7.

First half -- 4 carries, 7 yards.

Nothing has been solved with the run game. And it's clear that Rocco doesn't trust it when the game is in the balance. He repeatedly went to designed Brown runs in the first half to try to build the lead.

This is where having somebody like AA would be invaluable...we really don't have any smash to offset all the dash. having a power back to get the tough yards in between the tackles behind the fullbacks would really open up things.

Or, as has been said, our line just isn't very good. Our best runs are on misdirections and plays outside and zone running plays.

Which is unusual because a line with four seniors should be a lot better. Its not like they cant pass protect (I mean we've gone for 200+ every game) so there has to be something that can be fixed ((and I hope somebody doesn't bust a blood vessel over that thought).

The pass protection hasn't been very good, either. Passing yards doesn't mean good pass protection.
