Not to go off topic a little, but there was this rediculous rule (and might be still in place) in the Florida HS Football if such a scenrio took place with the 3 way tie as mentioned above. The teams would meet the following Monday. The two teams with the worst overall record (meaning district an non district) would play quarter of football to determine who would play the team with best overall record for a quarter of play. One of our local HS had to play Xavier Lee's team (former FSU QB and most overrated recruit ever) who they destroyed during the regular season. Our school had only one regular season loss that whole year (to the team in the 2nd game) and they ended up losing to Xavier's team for that one silly quarter and missed the playoffs. Hopefully the Big South never considers this as an option

we're the only 2 idiots that enjoy getting headaches over this stuff.

except maybe SUMITUP
Yep, it intrigues me also. I smiled when I read this and my wife and daughters asked why. I told them they would not understand, to which my daughter says, "He must be on that Flames site".

tiebreaker courtesy of Chris Lang

I got an answer on the potential three-way Big South tiebreaker and how it would be broken from Mark Simpson at the Big South office. If Coastal Carolina, Liberty and Stony Brook were all to finish 5-1 in conference play (with SBU beating Coastal, Coastal beating Liberty and Liberty beating SBU), all would have gone 4-0 against the rest of the conference. The next tiebreaker is points allowed in conference games. Currently, Liberty would win that tiebreaker. The points allowed after three league games for all:

Liberty—51
Stony Brook—58
Coastal Carolina—72

That has to be the lamest tiebreaker ever, although I definately can see why they don't make it most points scored. It should be ranking. If it's good enough for the big 12..................................

That's an... interesting tie breaker. I guess if you're up 50-0 in the 2nd quarter, you'll want to risk injuries to your starting defense for the rest of the game.

So maybe I should have restated myself. The team that has the win against the highest ranked opponent of the 3 should get it. i.e. Big 12 - Texas beats OU. Texas should have gone. Texas was clearly the best of the 3, and OU was overrated.

No changes with yesterday's events - all 3 teams still alive won.

Current standings
Liberty 4-0
Stony Brook 4-0
Coastal 3-1
then the rest

11/13 schedule
Liberty @ Coastal
G-W @ SBU
not taking the time to look up the other teams - i think PC/CSU play and VMI plays ODU.

With a Liberty win Coastal is eliminated, and it sets up a winner take all championship game 11/20.

With a Coastal win, it sets up a crazy final weekend where there's a different scenario that could see any of the 3 get the auto bid.

The GW/SBU game sets up just like last years SBU/CSU game. It doesn't matter who wins for SBU, they still have to beat LU in the final week to win the conference & auto-bid. So, I imagine SBU will treat this like a bye week and spend 2 weeks preparing for us. I still think SBU wins since they're at home and GW is just playing out the string.

what happens if we beat CCU, but lose to SBU, and SBU (who beat CCU) loses to PC, who we beat, but who lost to CCU?
I was close. But gotta admit I didn't see it happening THIS way

why the F is points allowed used as a tie breaker?? this is seriously the most backwards thing I have ever heard...is this normal??

with that said if LU would've taken care of business last week we wouldn't have to worry about it

It's defensive points and I assume the reasoning is the best team will give up the least amount of point s.

And not run up the score on purpose.
