Anyone see the premiere of "The Walking Dead" last night on AMC? I'm not a huge zombie film guy, but it's pretty good. It's like a really high-quality zombie movie, only it's not limited to just a couple hours. It'll be interesting to see how they present a stretched-out world of people surviving a zombie apocolypse.

I pretty much watch any original content AMC puts out. They are just crushing what everybody else is doing. I thought it was a great pilot episode. VERY shocked at what kind of gore they were able to get away with. But from what I understand, this is based on a graphic novel that has been around for a while and still being written. So I don't think they'll have any problem keeping it going for a long time if they want to. I was surprised at the lack of "jump" scaring which I am happy with, and also some tear jerking aspects of the story so far. I'll be DVRing this every week.

I thought the stairwell/matchbook scene was pretty cool. Built tons of suspense without scaring the crap out of you. Definitely had some suspenseful moments which makes it better to me than just the typical "jump out and scare you" routine. I enjoyed the show, will be watching next week.

I've read all of the comics up to this point so needless to say I was very excited about the pilot. It definitely exceeded my expectations! It was everything a good adaptation should be: it stayed true to what makes the comic great but made alterations where needed for the different medium.

Robert Kirkman is a fantastic writer. I'm a big zombie fan and this series is probably the most realistic portrayal that I've seen of how people would actually act in a real zompocalypse. We actually did a presentation on it in the LU Comic Book Club a couple weeks ago and got very good response on it.

There are only going to be six episodes this season, but they've already ordered the next one.

As for the gore, AMC has basically given them no limits on the amount of violence they can use, but they have toned down the swearing considerably and will definitely not include any of the nudity that was present in the comics either.

Have it on the DVR and will probably watch it tomorrow night. I'm a huge Mad Men fan and really enjoyed Rubicon so I'm hoping this will live up to what I've come to expect from AMC.

The wife and I finally got caught up on the first 3 episodes. I'm loving it so far. I wish there were more than 6 episodes this season. It was good to hear that they renewed it for another season, but I'm not happy that it came at the expense of Rubicon. I was really enjoying that show.

That last episode drove the story further, but it wasn't scary at all. They had to throw in that one zombie eating the deer near their camp just so they could say there was a zombie in the episode. We need more than that.

I don't see how they expected to get to that dude on the roof knowing that if he was actually still there the stairwell would have been filled with zombies. Plus they decided to do that before getting the guns.
