Men's Basketball Preseason Practice Begins
October 15, 2010
While the rest of the student body is on fall break, the Liberty men's basketball team is just getting started. Head coach Dale Layer's squad officially began practice, Friday, at approximately 5:30 p.m. in preparation for the 2010-11 season.

The inaugural session took place inside Liberty's Schilling Center. The Flames will have exactly four weeks of prep time before their season opener inside the Vines Center against Virginia Intermont on Nov. 12 at 7 p.m.
With 28 pics of practice. Play Basketball

A couple of things that I noticed while checking out the pictures.....1 anyone know why JC Sanders was on the sidelines with what looked to be some kind of leg/calf brace, and 2 that garen lafser looks to be either back on the team or in a role as a practice player. He was last on the team when coach Layer was last here as an assistant. He could have been in this role last year and I was just unaware. If anyone has any insight on JC sanders injury please share.

Lafser would be a senior in terms of eligibility, so he could be a part of the team. Not sure. But he wasn't there last year in any visible capacity.

He did something to his foot, I don't have too many details to give, but he has been practicing so I think he will be fine by the season.

was talking to a coach yesterday and JC did have a foot injury, that originally was thought to be serious and keep him out extended time but got word that it wont keep him out very long. They got word that it was something much less serious that originally thought so he will be good to go very soon.

if it is some kind of fracture, I think we need to seriously consider replacing the floors in the schilling and the vines.

That old rubberized surface that we used to have in Schilling helped SCAR dunk against ETSU.

After seeing SCAR run up and down the court in that old timers game I think you make a valid point.
