Rocco's terrible, Brown's not a good QB, and Karcher would have run a better offense.

And we'll never score 50, and top 3 in the NEC is as good as top 3 in the PL, right sch14?

Are you saying "Ken Karcher at QB > Mike Brown at QB" should be lumped in with those horrific statements? Crap now I have to look this up. I'll probably eat my words here.

And last year the NEC PL statement was valid. This year.....mmmm...not so much

Well, good thing when I said it I was talking about this year. ;-)

And no, I meant Karcher > Streeter, not Karcher > Brown.

I feel like someone could come up with a good argument for this. Definitely not me - I am not capable of making a good argument. But someone who comes always across as rational could. I nominate you buddy.

Here's a starting point. There is one common opponent between EMU and Liberty - BALL STATE. Let's take a look at the offensive production.

EMU Points - 35 in regulation
Liberty Points - 27

EMU Offensive yards - 490 -25 OT yards = 465.
Liberty Offensive yards - 395

EMU's "I make all the plays" weapon - Alex Gillett - 225 yards passing, 3TDs 1Int, 189 yards rushing
Liberty's "I make all the plays" weapon - Mike Brown - 276 yards passing, 2TDs 3Int, 87 yards rushing

EMU's talent = 0...plus this Gillett guy
Liberty's talent = more than EMU

EMU played better O with less talent than Liberty. Karcher>Streeter.

No way do you move a Walter Payton Candidate QB to a different position in the middle of the season (and at the start of conference play) when you want to make the playoffs. You let the other WRs step up---Pat Kelly has been doing very well, Kyle DeArmon is there, and we still haven't seen much of Gabe Henderson this year yet. The good thing is that they've started to involve the Tight Ends and Full Backs more in the passing game. Hopefully there are some other guys out there who will step up. I think they'll be fine.

Chick, emphasis in BYD's post should be read "more." And, in case you failed to notice, that's exactly what we saw MORE of in the VMI game than in any other thus far.

Brennan can throw. Summers is arguably the top WR in FCS. Imagine what he could do with Brown on the other side, or for that matter on the same side in a trips or bunch formation. The point is, it won't be a permanent decision because of the promise Rocco made to Brown a year ago (that he would be a QB his last 2 years). Its a small package within the offense that logic says could yield considerable results as it is continually developed throughout the second half of the season. Furthermore, its just the kind of thing that time during a Bye Week could be used to finely tune.

The video game kid inside of me wants to see us move Mike to WR and throw the ball 45 times a game. It's not going to happen, nor should it probably, but man that'd be fun to watch.

I did notice, and that's exactly what I expect in a blow out. Nothing wrong with changing things up a little every now and then and letting your backup get some experience in a blow out.

I do question some of the other times they send Tyler in though. You have to wonder how it affects your starter's confidence when the coach sends the backup QB into the game A LOT on 3rd down when the game isn't in the bag. For a QB, 3rd down is BIG--right?

Like those All-Decade teams that come in some Madden games? I could dig that!

We do seem less built offensively for Rocco's grind-it-out style than in previous years. Even with Brown at QB (let alone at WR), and the unstoppable Summers already at WR, it might behoove us to throw 45 times a game. No one's stopped it yet.

We have what I think could be classified as a good problem...we have an all world talent in Mike Brown, but then we also have a guy in Tyler Brennan who can come in and there be a minimal drop off in the offense and keep Mike in the game as a receiver thus allowing them to take advantage of his additional skill set. I know Coach Rocco hasnt made a wrong decision as of yet personnel wise (not to say he hasnt been questioned by some on here) so I am sure he will use this week to really look at what he has and theyll install or uninstall as needed in time for the PC game next Saturday

At the beginning of the VMI game, we saw a Lot more of Tyler at QB and Mike at WR. I do not think a switch will happen as long as Mike is playing this well, but I think you will se a lot more of Tyler. Man that boy can run too.

Did this really happen? If so, I may have more of an issue with Rocco than I thought. The only promise that should be made is that he will do what is best for his football team and program. Hypothetically, if Brennan at QB, and Brown at WR opposite Summers gave us the best chance to win, that's what we should be doing. Hypothetically, if we were able to land a stud QB transfer or 4 year starter kind of guy, and he's a better QB than Brown, Brown should be a WR. Hopefully that's the reality of the situation, and the "promise" is more rhetorical. I love Mike Brown, and I love Rocco, I just want LU football to be the best it can be.
I'd rather Rocco make the promise and keep it than not have Mike Brown at all.

Agreed, and from what I'm hearing I bet he's made the same promise to Henderson.

I am thinking that this decision will pay off in the future games because of the injury to Garner. But I was starting to get concerned that we burned a Red Shirt for 9 catches and 0 TDs so far.
