"Monogram Road"....ugh.

I don't know about the rest of you, but after going to school there for 4 years, working there for 2 years, and generally being around the area for 14 years, I don't think I've used or really even knew any of the road names. Don't people mostly use landmarks or building names around campus more than road names?

bearing in mind I attended over 2 decades ago: I've often wondered as I drive thru there- "how the freak does fire/ems find there way around in here?"

even if its your district/patrol zone- its good to have landmarks. That way- if you have multiple agencies responding to a crash at DeMoss Drive/Regents Pkwy- there is no confusion. (As opposed to "behind the arena somewhere")

This is LONG overdue- esp for someone in a panic, on the phone w/ 911, trying to figure out where the heck they are: now you have consistent landmarks/street names.

Wondering if it will have those cool Hershey kisses-shaped street lights like they do in PA.

Oh, I wasn't saying that this wasn't needed or anything like that. I'm just wondering if I'm the only one who never really knew any of the street names to begin with.

I don't know for sure. But if I made it a hobby to lobby for certain folks, I'd look toward SumItUp's neck of the woods.

One of the biggest reasons for this project is to update the city's GIS system that correlates into GPS mapping. Now, when you put in 1971 university blvd, it will bring you to the front of DeMoss. Same goes for the rest of the road namings. This will also help LUPD and local EMS know where a call is calling from instead of just the general university blvd address.
