The concessions take meal points. It's kind of expensive obviously, but it's an option.

I know for the spring game they had just basic bread and coldcuts with a bag of chips, a cookie, a bottled water/soda and a fruit. Available for a meal swipe. They don't need to give out gorilla mugs and nachos, but maybe have a separate tent or something where kids can get a meal swipe meal.

Not everyone has a ton of meal points, or has meal points at all. Offering a meal swipe would give everyone an option for a meal.

someone said a meal swipe option at the football game would keep the student from leaving and i agree completely with them. no one wants to spend 7 meal points on a slice of pizza and a drink. i chose to starve and support the team, but a lot of other people chose to eat dinner instead.

i think night games will almost always be more hyped and have a better atmosphere than day games. no sun, blinding us (which btw the best part about the press tower from a students perspective is simply that it makes the sun set earlier.) and food in the stomach makes things much more enjoyable.
Thats was my idea, and it was something I wish I had when I was there. Being able to skip the boring band performance that was the same every week, get a meal on a meal swipe, and wait for the second half.

I have seen multiple Facebook statuses and photo albums from LU students that basically indicate their schedule yesterday was "Football, dinner, hockey".

You may think the ROT and Tilley and Hockey are "excuses", but thats what's important to LU students. SJ, you never lived on campus, you simply don't understand the culture. FF30, BJ and I have lived on campus, we understand what our dormmates are like. They like to go to football games, but not many are committed enough to stick around for a whole game unless it was against someone we'll never play at home like Tech or UVA.

I think the JMU game was a good display of how our students can and will be great fans for a football game. How easily we forget the student support VERY EARLY for that game, and a lot of them stayed despite a stupidly bad rain storm. Kids from the area know JMU, a lot have friends there. Most LU kids wouldn't know Charleston Southern was a college or a railway company unless they try to learn more about LU sports.
FIFY

As a sidelight...the band show is a lot better this year...the students ate it up the two times its been played to them this year (Having songs they recognize certainly helps)

Also, I think having the parade at 1PM is way too early for a 3:30 game. The parade should be at 2:30PM, and for the people already in the seats they should show it on the scoreboard.

I'm guessing that many of the students that had to do something for the parade went and ate afterwards instead of coming to the game.

Also, didn't Marriott used to close on gamedays and have a cookout at the field where you swipe your mealcard to get a hambuger and chips? That's what they need to go back to. Make the students come to the game if they want to eat!

Mike Brown should learn a lot from this game when he watches it on film. I think the three picks will only make him better in the future as far as not locking in on one receiver and telegraphing passes.

Did CSU create the blueprint for the rest of the Big South to follow on how to cover Chris Summers?

blueprint...I doubt it...I need to check them out but I think Chris should do much better against some more undersized DBs going forward...which should open up more chances for someone like PK to get ideal one on one matchups

Honestly, I know CSU's coverage was pretty good, but Mike underthrew 4 of those passes and there should have been 3 or 4 PI calls. I would call it handicapping ourselves more than CSU stopping us, minus the good reads on the INT's.

It depends on the officials. Their "blueprint" was basically to grab and push and ignore the rules and let the flags fall where they may, which for the most part they didn't. I know some here have made a point of saying that Chris was pushing off, but IMHO he was interefered with 7 or 8 times. Hopefully we will send some video to the BSC head of officials and they will reinforce the fact that just because a receiver is big and talented it doesn't mean you can mug him every time the ball is thrown his way.

Having said that, I pretty much predicted this would happen in the Chris Summers thread where everyone is predicting he will shatter all the LU receiving records. Were it not for the gift Mills handed us by calling that time out, his attack on the record book would have taken a big hit yesterday. He'll get the single season TD receptions record, but I'm not so sure anything else is a done deal.

This drove me bonkers. Between the sound being horribly low, how in the heck do you throw t shirts when the team is lining up with 13 seconds left on the play clock. If I was Rocco, I would ream the game day marketing people for this. Unacceptable!

You guys need to relax

Last week we had freaking fireworks going off during play....this week it's some crowd noise. Obviously we are taking positive steps! :D

*also, this doesnt sound like a Gameday ops issue as much as a Cheerleader coach decision.

The team knew fireworks were going off. Coaching staff didn't know they would need to yell while t-shirts were being given out. I know the cheerleading coach so I'll be sure to give her a hard time  ...

I thought this year's team was supposed to be the best we have ever had, and I am not saying that they aren't a good football team, but I am expecting more. Maybe CSU is getting better but in 07 and 08 we beat them handily with less talent. We had a huge win vs. Ball State and played JMU off their feet, but it is the conference games that count. I think we will win the conference and go to the playoffs, but we have to play with more consistency.

I absolutely love them. Jenny is awesome.

Of course, it could be worse.....like that time the cheerleaders delivered the Royal Purple Road Rally prize before the race ended.

Are you trying to say....that having thousands of posts does not entitle you to respect? Meaning some people can post 10000 times and not deserve any respect?

Pure speculation on my end I just think KK and others are prob to busy during the game to tell the Cheerleaders every time they should throw out t-shirts.

I blame the tool running the promotion standing by the scores table

Cheer coach is on headset with KK and the Marketing Crew....so stuff like this shouldn't happen. Of course, not everything is excecuted the way it's radioed over.

At least the guy from last year was good looking. I swear, you could tell those girls one thing 1000 times and it just doesn't click.

For the most part though, they are a fun bunch to work with.

Solution to the students "starving" and wanting to go to the rot. Tailgate. You get fed when you tailgate, and it is much better food than what you will get at the rot, and more fun. .... you don't have student activities yelling in your ear,"woooh I love student activities!!".

I may be wrong then. Who knows.

As far as Cheerleaders go....this sums up my thoughts on cheerleading. I picked them up from the airport at the WVU game and they were all talking about how nervous they were....like shaking nervous. When I say "they" they didnt mean the obvious answer in "the football team" they meant themselves. I was unaware they took themselves so seriously.

That's the ideal situation.

But at the end of the day, the AD needs to take away every reason to leave and they know that. The students will find any excuse to not be at the game. Is it right? No. They probably are a bunch of slouches. But they are the decision makers as well. So if there's hockey, a prayer meeting, food, or death on the other side of the fence, they'll probably leave. There have been plenty of promotions and requirements they have used to keep fans at games. Hello Clemson!

Idea! Lock all the gates and hire Medic and SC to guard them.
