Finally the chain link around the bill is coming down! I'm of the opinion that the black aluminum fence (and probably brick posts) that will replace it will completely change the way the stadium looks. I'm excited.

What do you mean it's doubtful? Last I heard it was scheduled for Phase 3.

I was thinking they may have been waiting to take the chain link fence down until it was time to do the Pergola.

Isn't that what I said? You were asking since the chain linked fence is coming down, if they are doing that to put in the Pergola.

Yep. At lunchtime half of it was already down. I'm not sure how long it takes them to build the new one though.

They better get the whole thing up by the weekend or we are staring down the barrel of a Woodstock-like event happening in Central Virginia.

The chain link fence and the Ideal Storage trailers were getting on my nerves with everything else looking so nice so I told them to haul the trailers out and take down the fence before Homecoming and replace it with the new black fencing that we had fabricated over the last couple months. The fence replacement is a temporary move. The brick columns won't be added until after football season and the path of the new fence will not be graded and leveled until later so the new fencing won't be perfect (it will have a stair step look for now) but it will be a big improvement over the "cyclone" fence.

Statements like this, sir, are why you are so loved. Made me laugh so much.

The improvements are great, maybe next year I can get up there for homecoming

As an alum who was on campus during the lean years of the early 90's I appreciate the emphasis on aesthetics and getting it right. I have been so impressed with the quality of the expansion projects the past few years. Thank you for that.

Where did the ideal storage units go?

I believe they were moved to Ideal Storage. Seems logical to put Ideal Storage units at Ideal Storage!

Yes it was inconvenient to move the first game to City Stadium, but the view from the two conference rooms on the 5th floor are more than worth pushing the finish date back a few weeks. The inside of this building is incredible. I could take pictures or describe it but it wouldn't do it justice at all.

I agree, Super Jon. Our son and his wife (both LU alums) are in for the weekend, and I have deliberately not described the "new stadium" to them because I want them to be blown away by it this afternoon!

The place was INCREDIBLE! I was absolutely blown away by the improvements. Everyone said pictures don't do it justice, but I thought that was just a line people were using. It wasn't a line. You have to be there to get it. Williams stadium is legit.

I only have one suggestion to help smoth things on the second deck. Get rid of the first row of seating. We were sitting right by the aisle next to the blue seats, but we weren't allowed to use the stairs 20 feet from us (even though those seats were empty). We had to crawl over 50 people every time we had to go down the stairs on the other side of our section. This might not seem like a big deal to you single guys, but I have a 2-year-old son and a pregnant wife. This didn't work out too well. If they took out the first row or moved the "bouncers" away from the vomitorium (yes! I got to use that word!) it would work much better for families.

Once again, that is my ONLY suggestion. Our experience was amazing and I can't wait to make the trip again!
