about the atmosphere...wish you guys coulda been here for App State 2 years ago. I don't think any FCS game ever could beat that crowd.

I've only skimmed this thread, so please forgive me if I bring up things that have already been hashed out. This is the first chance I've had to visit the board since the game.

1. It seemed to me that Mike Brown was hurt, possibly more than had been said. He was not making the bold moves he normally makes. I haven't seen much talk about it, but something about his game was soft. I'm just speculating, but he didn't seem 100% to me.

2. We have no run game. There could be a lot of reasons for that, but my best guess is that the talent isn't there. I don't know how Allen would have competed this year. We're lacking, though and I don't think it has that much to do with the O-line. They could be better, but they've put some holes there. If a certain #23 from a couple of years back had been behind this line, I think we'd see rushing yards piling up.

3. Hitting the kicker is stupid. No excuse. Both teams should pay for those penalties in practice this week.

4. Dear Flames: If the run game isn't working, don't keep running on first down. Please. kthx.

5. P.S. - Throw more to Summers... even if they know it's coming.

6. Dear JMU: Your scoreboard is so faded that it took me a while to figure out which numbers were what. I'm sure it's going to be replaced soon, but that was pretty bad.

7. And finally.... urgency. Liberty needs a sense of it. JMU was totally off kilter in the first half, especially in the first quarter. Liberty had some momentum. That momentum should have kicked in the team's sense of urgency in the same way it would have at the end of the game. We were playing the #3 team in the nation. You don't get a lot of chances in the big games. Make a move while you can. Liberty acted like they had all day and the second half wasn't easy.

That's all I've got right now.

so will he be healthy by next week? although the only game on our schedule id say we can confidently win without him IS next week, so that's convenient.

I posted this earlier, but it didn't go for some reason...

First, as far as the stadium goes, as stated, the scoreboard IS old and is being replaced next year. Also, if you sat on the visitor's side, that's the way it's going to be. As explained, the home side's only half-way done.

Second, as to the game, it was a great one. Both defenses played great. I will admit that I thought our offense was vanilla, but no more than it usually is, that's just the nature of our offense. In that same regard, LU's offense did become predictable. Although it seldom matters because Summers was a beast. After about the second quarter, my buddy and I would look at each other and go "better guard the slant" on every 3rd and 4 or 5. And we started covering it, but it didn't matter. The only time we really got it was near the end of the game when Summers got popped on the catch. Both defenses obviously played well.

Good luck to you guys the rest of the year.

I noticed the faded numbers on the score board that does need fixed really bad it took me a few mins to figure out what was what. And I don't see any reason why we should play Mike Brown much at all. Let Tyler and a lot of the other guys get a bunch of experience and work on things that need worked on DURING the game. If anything I say we go out put up some quick 3 touchdowns and work on that running game and reps. Give all our RB's a good number of snaps and see who performs with the opportunities they're given.

I'm all for that. We can beat Savannah State with Gabe Henderson at quarterback. We could beat them with Brian Hudson at quarterback. If Mike's hurt, give him the week off and get him ready for Savannah State. It will kill him to sit out, but if it means he's healthier for the rest of the year, I'm all for it.

*ahem*...you do mean Charleston Southern, I believe.

I agree with that thinking wholeheartedly.

Yeah, my bad. I was thinking "Sit him for Savannah State" and "Get him ready for CSU" and it came out like that.

as talented as Mike Brown is - he was an unabashed cry baby on Saturday, with multiple flops.

This is football Mike, not soccer.

Impressed with your fan base and with your football team. You guys slowed down a good offense, so hats off to you for that.

Overall good game, met some of your students on saturday night. Some had been drinking, but I won't report them, i promise

I have a lot to say, but I'll hold it for now while I say just 1 thing. JMU is good, but I do not think they will end in the Top 5. That is all.

That's not too bold of a statement. We play a Top 5 team this week and have 4 of the Top 10 on our upcoming schedule, including number 1 (and UMass may move into the top 10, but Richmond might move out). If we assume that we're supposed to lose to No. 1, and we slip up and lose to just one of the other top 10 teams we play (even if we assume we're SUPPOSED to win those games), we will not be in the Top 5 at the end of the year with two losses.

You might as well say what you have to say now and get it out...

You must have. I can almost guarantee we wouldn't have won in basketball.

Great, I really want our loss to them to look worse. I personally think and hope that JMU will do really well.

I have to admit, that I posted that not knowing much about the Liberty men's basketball team...but in order for it to be complete BS, you'd have to be really, really, really turrible.

I can not stand when you twist my words. We are very good, better than we've been in a long time. But most around here agree that we are not quite as goot as we thought we were. We are a solid top 15 team, and JMU is a solid top 10 team. My simple statement was that #3 was overrated for them. We are both playoff quality teams but neither are championship caliber. IMO!
