What does everyone think about the special teams this year?

Last year it seemed to be that our kick returning game was a strength.

This year...it seems like the ball isn't bouncing our way.

Like at the beginning of the second half, when the kick went out of bounds...it was about a foot away from going through the endzone.

As far as the blocked Field Goals. Are we only snapping it 5 yards back to the holder instead of seven? It seems like the holder is too close to the offensive line.

A lot of people complained about the offense...but actually it seemed like we would put together around 40 yard drives...but it didn't matter because we started so deep in our own territory.

Our Special Teams has seen to be a struggle recently but their are a few things to at...

Kickoff Coverage- has been great..other than a long return against ball state which we were pushed back from a penalty and then given a penalty for a late hit.

Kickoff Return- doesn't look good.. definitely needs some more work especially teams we have played, their kickers haven't been putting the ball that deep. We are missing blocks and holes causing a weak return.

Punt Coverage- Larsson is doing a good job, minimal returns...slight scare in the jmu return down the sideline last night.

Punt Return- we need to field PUNTS. I have watched many times where we haven't fielded punts and we have had the ball roll against our good! St Francis,Ball st,RMU and JMU.

FG- 5 of 10...2 being blocked (50 and 47) and 3 other misses from 52 and 51 and 41...last night bevins was at 7 yards but the guy had came off the edge and made a play...Listening to JMU after game..they said that they practiced that block all week because of that side of the protection has been exposed in earlier games.Firm it up and let the kid kick.

Special teams needs to tighten up bc they are not getting it down!!

Coach Rocco summed it up quite well in his press conference. He said that the special teams were not adjusting well to the other teams, meaning that if your guy is fast and you go to block him and he gets past you the next time you adjust for his speed and change your angle of attack. The FG blocking is a concern. Coach Rocco explained that they set up with the blocking a certain way on FG attempts but after watching the films here noticed that the kicking spot was not corrrect for the blocking formation but closer to the side the block came from. I am sure that Rocco and Roberts will get it straightened out real soon
