Yeah guys, if you're going to complain about something on offense, it's the line. Mike's INT last night was due to a forced scramble and a throw on the run. The running game can't get going because there's nowhere to run. The line hasn't been very good so far, getting dominated at the point of attack.

While it was nice to see the defense step up finally, I am still continuously disappointed by the difficult positions our special teams keeps putting us in, both offensively and defensively. Getting pinned deep in our own territory, a fairly lethargic return game, blocked kicks, missed field goals, penalties, etc... We are losing the field position battle and it keeps making life difficult on the rest of our team. Of course, not having much of a running game doesn't help either. You could call us Baby VTech this year for all the lack in our run game.

This game could signal big things for us heading into the conference schedule. Good teams either respond to adversity or they implode. I think they respond, but Stony Brook stands in our way and that game will tell us just who we are. Are we pretenders or contenders? Any more losses, unless there are major injuries, are inexcusbale at this point.

which is kind of strange because until this season, our ST gave us awesome field position (or a TD) time after time.

im personally tired of losing these close games against quality teams. we have zero running game, the O-Line is not doing a great job, and we are way too predictable with our play calling. with all of this said, props to JMU, they are an excellent team. lets now focus on savannah state and then our big south schedule! GO FLAMES!

Was anyone else woefully unimpressed with your stadium and their fans? While I wouldn't exactly use the word "dump," I really thought their stadium would be nicer. I realize they are beginning a building project, but when you compare our facility to theirs, ours is a palace.

And their fans across from us sat the entire game, and didn't make any noise at all. Their students at least had their purple thunder sticks, and made a little noise with them. The thing that impressed me the most about their fans were how seriously they take their tailgaiting with literally scores of those purple and gold JMU tent toppers (or whatever they're called) and even their porta-jons are team colors.

My favorite T-shirt seen last night: "Real mean don't wear purple." (that would work at HPU, too).

probably just the difference between the feeling of a steel/aluminum built stadium and a concrete one.

That's really the key, because a poor O-line leads to no running game and predictable play calling. It really prevents an offense from being efficient and open.

oh and i thought there scoreboard was suppose to be AMAZING and all this and that. Well I'm telling you it's NOT! they have these huge advertisements all over it and this TINY INCY WINCY LITTLE screen for instant replays and video. was NOT impressed. ALTHOUGH they do have some videos that i thought were pretty cool. liberty needs to start doing stuff like that "if they haven't already." they may have and we just haven't seen it because we haven't had a home game with a screen to show it off yet.

Finally getting the time to post after a late night last night. As for the game, if we were able to turn 3 plays around the game would have been completely different and we would have likely walked out of there last night with the W. The first play was the 3rd and goal from the 2 where Shaver dropped the pass. We needed to turn that 3 into the 7. It was a great play call but we just didn't execute it. If we would have gotten 7 there, then our next to last drive of the 1st half where we went for it on 4th, we would have likely kicked a FG. If we knock that down it's 10-0 and hopefully we could prevent their late td. The third play was the blocked FG. We needed to stick that. Those 3 plays would have given us 13 points and could have been enough to get the W. You can't leave 10 points on the field when you're on the road against a top 5 team.

As for their stadium, Williams is much nicer right now. When we go back in 2 years we'll have to see how theirs ranks then. Their videoboard is tiny.

It was a good atmosphere and other than being called a nig** and loser the fans were very hospitable.

I hate to lose, but we're 2-2 and we need to take these next 7 games 1 at a time and make the playoffs.

once bridgeforth is complete im sure it will be much nicer. the amenities there were very poor. great tailgate atmosphere near the stadium, and JMU handles traffic very well. of course there were some idiots yapping but that happens everywhere. LU will need to shore up the O-Line, and i would love to see more of pat kelly. we do not have a running back that is explosive IMO, and for crying out loud, i hate to hear that we can play with the top teams in FCS...thats not good enough for me! its time to start winning these games. but it's over and we move on. time to beat savannah state.

Our offense has a ton of talent at the skill positions. Mike Brown is one of the top quarterbacks in the country. Chris Summers is likely a top 5 receiver. Our other guys are all very good as well.

Our offense relies on getting guys into space and letting them make people miss and using their speed and athleticism. Usually one block and a good move by the ball carrier will spring a big play. Screens, slants, and things like that are what we're very good at.

Our offense, right now, isn't meant to be a between the tackles power run offense. We don't have Stephen Sene, Eddie Pinigis, Mike Godsil, and those guys up front with Rashad Jennings behind them. It's a different offense. The lack of a run game doesn't bother me as much as forcing it when it isn't there. Unfortunately, at times, we get somewhat stubborn and try to force things on offense instead of staying with what works until the other team stops it.

First down is our biggest problem. We saw it in the second half last night. When we completed a pass on first down, we set ourselves up to get the next first down every single time. The two times they were incomplete on first down the drive stalled. When we rushed on first down, we only ended up picking up the first down once out of four times.

When we ran the ball on first down, we averaged two yards per carry for the game. That left us with an average 2nd and 8 any time we ran the ball. That handcuffs your offense. When you become predictable, you're easy to stop. When you're in 2nd and long consistently, your playbook shrinks. We were able to do more things and have the most success last night when we were successful on first down (five of our first six were 5 yards or more).

If we can get back to getting 4 yards or more consistently on first down, then our offense will be back to the way it used to be. It doesn't matter how we get those four yards, whether it be running or passing, but we have to get back to getting them.

I didn't get to watch this game, but it pretty much turned out as I expected. JMU is a solid team and Liberty showed that the previous week does not represent the skill level of this team..

I really have nothing more to add, I agree with much of what has been said. I really can't wait until we can beat these top fcs teams but I do believe this team is better then last year's team, so to say this team isn't growing at all is not completely accurate...we aren't where we want to be, but we are slowly getting there...

Liberty receiver Tommy Shaver barely missed a one-handed catch in the end zone and the Flames were forced to settle for a field goal, their only score against the Dukes.

HARRISONBURG — Liberty’s football program has advanced enough in the last five years that the Flames are long past the point of moral victories, something Flames coach Danny Rocco was quick to point out after James Madison gutted out a 10-3 victory at Bridgeforth Stadium on an unusually warm Saturday evening in late September.

See those two red dots at the top right of the picture? That's me and my girlfriend! We were lucky enough to find club level seats on craigslist just days before the game. Great view and comfortable seats. It was a very enjoyable experience.

Overall we were welcomed on that side, but there were still a lot of death stares lol. One of the ticket check ladies wearing a vest approached us after the game and said, "How in the world did two Liberty students get tickets in the Dukes Club section?" It was great.

Great game Flames. I figured it would be that close (thought the score would be higher) but figured it would be a 7-14 point spread.

-Someone please advise Summers to drop out of school and go to the NFL this year, tired of playing against him!

-Expected more from Brown, he still scares me but we never got good pressure on him, congrats to your o-line for pass blocking.

-Our offense sucked and your defense played VERY well. I think the offense should buy dinner for the defense for both of our teams this week.

-In comments about the stadium - the visitor/student side you are correct has no amenities, and it will remain that way for many years to come. The home side is completely different under the stands, venture over there in 2012. It is pretty breath-taking on that side. For any of you who did sit on the home side the whole place will be decked out with banners and decorations etc after construction this off season, remember it is still an operating construction site right now. And yes our videoboard which we call our "minitron" is very comical, at first we hated it but now we kind of love it like only a mother could. We are getting a new board next year with the completion of construction an our video screen will be twice the size of yours and also HD like yours. Your video board is like 20x26 and ours will be 26x61 feet for next year. Save your judgement for 2012 and try to get seats on the home side or endzone if you want amenities.

-Hope you enjoyed your trip and yes we do take pride in our tailgating around the stadium
-Why the heck did your band pump in noise during it's halftime performance...that was just embarassing

-One of you commented your were called a racial slur?!? Uhm you should have beaten the snot out of that person or reported them to a cop or event staff. What a disgrace of a human being.
-Good luck and run the table in the Big South and we will see you in Williams the first week of the playoffs!

Did you watch the JMU game? We were a dropped pass in the endzone away from being right there in the end. While we didn't win, we can certainly play with anyone in the FCS.
And a blocked field goal away from being up 13-10.

Also. On the 4th and 1. Why would you put Mike Brown back in the shotgun, a total of 4 yards from the first down instead of behind the center. I don't know if Streeter wasn't trying to give up a lot of the play book but we tried to run the ball way too many times when our passing was in rhythm. Like SJ said, keep doing what give you positive yardage and leave the reverse crap where it belongs, out of the playbook.

I noticed that JMU had a sign on our sidelines that said if there was a problem or distrubance in the stands, that you could call a certain number or text them your location and an usher would come to your needs.

We actually had a heavy set guy (an LU fan) sitting in seats that were not his (row L), and several people complained around him, but he kept responding with "they told us to sit where ever we wanted." But eventually a usher came and "ushered" him out. I was grateful for that, because the big guy was sitting in my seat!

Everyone has pointed out most of my thoughts other than one thing and that was the play calling. I thought the play calling was abysmal once we got into their territory other than the play on the goaline that we could have converted. There were a lot of very bad first down trick run plays and reverses that set us up in 2nd and long several times. Also bringing in Brennon and then have him run on 3rd and 6 is insane. Those trick runs were just unacceptable and we tried getting to the east and west way too much on those plays.

Completely agree with Smootie, we shouldn't be happy with that, and those of you that are surpised taht we hung in there should wake up. There was never a point that we looked overmatched in any facet.

We continue to underutilize Summers if that's possible. I say make the opposition prove they can stop him, because i haven't seen it yet at all.

We really don't have an every down back this year, Davis is solid but he's not a star. I think were actually missing aldreakis quite a bit now.

As far as the stadium, i was a bit surprised. The video board was like trying to watch a 13 inch tv in a spacious living room, no amenities whatsoever on our side, crowd noise was a non-factor, and overrall i was underwhelmed with the stadium. There is no comparison as far as our facilities are concerned at this point. Also, the stadium really has no character it's just well plain. That being said, solid tailgating atmosphere and traffic flow was good. What was with the fireworks? Was the super bowl won last night?

my favorite quote of the night, a jmu kid comes up to my friend and asks if we brought a bible to the game....just shows the level of ignorance. I did see the 2 bones down there with their shirts off taunting and they weren't even worth wasting your time over Mike. Those guy's made idiots of themselves so just let them do their job

Pump in noise? I know that we do run electronics for the guitars and piano in the front percussion and for the microphones but I dont think there is anything that could be equated to "pumping in noise"

About midway through the show the entire band was mic-ed and it was playing through the stadium speaker system and it was feeding back very badly. I don't think it was the bands fault. I think someone in the press box left a mic live somewhere and it was picking up the band. Maybe a refs mic? Idk. But it was embarrassing.
