Hey...when I was in the band we'd kick fieldgoals after practice. I could hit it from 30 yards pretty good wearing a rollerblade boot with the wheels taken off.
No, I don't think band members are athletes. However, upper level drum and bugle corps people I would consider athletes...you look at the crazy drill of the Cadets or Cavaliers, and that's like running in step while playing. It's insane - and I paid something like $13 to watch championships this year at Movies 10, and it was sold out.
Two other things as far as he band. The message has been received about wearing red. They're having a band alumni day on October 9th, where alumni can come back and play with the band...I've I've gotten about 4 emails that say, MAKE SURE YOU WEAR RED. So I think the band has got that message...and btw if you're a band alumni, you can still sign up for homecomming, just join the band alumni page on facebook, and you'll get the info. They're having a dinner, and they're giving everone that attends a DVD with band performances through the years...they're trying to have every year since it started on there - which is pretty cool.
Lastly, I liked the sing-along songs with LEAN ON ME and things like that...but I think they should have someone on a microphone leading it, because the people in the crowd weren't sure exactly when to start and stop.
Finally, the best reason to bring the band is to play Fan the Flames when we score, so we can sing along...even though my prediction is bad...nothing would make me happier that to be singing that song over and over again on Saturday night.
I was recently at a church that had their bells connected to a keyboard that you could play hymns on...and I was so tempted to turn it on and play the flames fight song...ringing through the air to the sound of loud church bells...maybe I could do that Sunday afternoon if the flames win and post it.
Sorry for getting off topic...band stuff excites me
