Hey guys,

needless to say it has been about 3 years since my last post....Shameful I know.....but I was just pondering this question...Why does Liberty try to not schedule Duke? Being a Duke fan and living in durham almost all my life, that question has been raised by some of my friends and fellow Liberty Alum for the past few years. Why? Simple:

1. Liberty CAN beat Duke. Richmond did it 2 years ago, and Elon tried to come back on them this year for another upset. (Trust me, it wasn't a pretty game) I know coach Cutcliffe is doing everything he can to get Duke to being looked at as a respectable football team, but it is still going to take more time. This would be the perfect time for Barber to try to work something out.

2. Duke is an ACC school. Yes we beat Ball State this year and I am not taking anything away from that, but having that you beat an ACC school (JMU anyone?) on your schedule is something that not only helps your team out down the road, it can also help your recruiting out.

I just thought I would give my 2 cents on this. It would be a great game to watch and pull for the Flames.

I'm sure LU would schedule Duke if it worked out. Ball State in all honesty is probably on par with Duke (Duke is that bad). LU has not shied away from ACC opponents recently Wake Forest in the past and NC State is on the schedule in the future. One last comment I am not a VT fan but VT is much much better than Duke. Its like comparing Texas and Baylor.

All that said stick around and jump in the fun on some of those other threads. :)

I know, I was just stating the principle anytime an FCS school upsets a FBS school, it is viewed as a MAJOR upset because many people feel like the FCS is inferior to the FBS. When the FBS school happens to be in a BCS conference like VT and James Madison, that just adds more fuel to the fire. It wouldnt matter if Liberty played Duke, getting a win against the ACC is what matters.

LOL...I was actually at that cold rainy game night. I was a tape runner for one of the local stations. Just look it at this way, the VT game was retribution this year

Liberty played Duke on Saturday in Durham, and Duke lost 285-120. The game was the "varsity sport of the mind"--Quiz Bowl.

very true but nothing will change the fact that my first JMU football experience was a very unpleasant one. thankfully, the rest of that year alone made up for it :D
