Yes, bring back the fierce looking eagle. Sparky is good for little kids events b/c he won't scare anyone, but as for intimidating that evil beach chicken in South Carolina, Sparky just doesn't do a good job.

Isn't the point of the mascot to be good with little kids? If we're relying on walking plush toys to intimidate the other team, I'd say there's a problem.

There's a new one? Didn't they just get that costume? Man, I really disliked this most recent one but it had actually grown on me to the point that I almost liked it. I wonder if they're going fierce or goofy. We need pictures.

Before reading the thread I thought VMI's coach was leaving. Funny thing is, I wasn't that surprised.

BTW- Get the mean eagle back. My kids liked him better.

That old mean eagle was really really lame. Not because it was mean, but it was just an awful costume. I like the current goofy sparky, because I generally think mascots are hilarious and mostly for kids. I could do without his dress though. Plus some other school had an identical eagle costume. I think it was EWU.

They were throwing around creative ways to introduce the new look sparky. They were going to graduate the old sparky and have him walk across the stage. They were getting pretty creative with the ideas. So just tell your kid he graduated and this is his cousin....lying to a kid cant be that tough.


PS I dont look at this as saying sensitive information (after all it is just a mascot) but rather building crazy anticipation that you guys cant contain and get you out to the game early!
