‎1.64 inches of rain in Lynchburg since 10am... and still counting. Some low lying area are already flooding and a lot of standing water on the roads. Hope HMO's wipers are working.

We had a brutal storm pass through yesterday knocking down trees in our neighborhood. It tore up the canvas roof off my kids' playground.

Unfortunately we didn't get as much rain as wind. We need the former badly.

explains why the turf at the 'Bill looks like a lake AGAIN

I really can't imagine that's a normal drainage pattern

I'm a big fan of tropical storms...Category 4 hurricanes, not so much. Let's go ahead and keep Earl out to sea at the end of this week.

You can set your watch to 5 PM for it to rain in Tampa during the summer months.

From past experience living in Florida I know this to be true, but lately the rain we have been getting has been 3 or 4 days of non-stop rain at a time..on top of the normal afternoon storms.

We are way above average rainfall right now, its been crazy

I'm going to the OBX Labor Day week and would appreciate it staying far far away.

The Outter Banks are now within the cone. Hope this thing goes back out to sea with minimal impact to land.

We've seen bigger Nor'easters around here than what Earl will be doing. Keep your plans for the weekend.

Nothing to report in Tidewater. Earl was a dud. (not that it was a bad thing for all of you getting ready for vacation)

I think as long as the power is on we'll go still. I heard there was some flooding and outages but I'm guessing that'll be resolved quickly.

a lot of big businesses and schools closed around the Tidewater area (most notably ODU and the Naval Base) and the Outer Banks was evacuated so we will see when they are let back in (should be later this afternoon i'm thinking)

Really I am thinking all of this was just precautions because officials didn't want a Katrina situation on their hands.... all that fuss over nothing though (Earl, not Katrina)

Walmart seems to be helping Jeff Barber's call to get a bunch of car flags showing the week of home games. They have a bunch of red ones for $11 and some change. Seems they are doing a better job of helping out than the campus bookstore...and less expensive.

Hey thanks Captain Obvious, oops, I mean Smartypants! I'll throw in something weather related to make it fit for you. Run to Walmart and purchase a car flag so that you can get it to wave in the wind, which currently in Lynchburg is out of the NW at 3 MPH.
