Yeah the schedule on the first 3 games has set up perfectly for JMU.

A cupcake in Morehead State. Then Va Tech coming off a big Monday night game. Then a bye week before playing a dangerous Liberty team. If we were playing JMU this Saturday, we’d win without a doubt.

I'm pretty sure he said something about the bye week giving him a better chance of focusing his players on Liberty after this big emotional high. Wish I could find the exact quote myself.

Ya it was along those lines but at the end he seemed very confident jmu would beat lu. It was in his tone of voice haha

well that's Mickey for you. He said today that at halftime he told his coaches he thought they could beat Tech!

he also gives awesome quotes:
"I'm not sure I thought we were going to win, but I felt there was no question we could play with them," Matthews said. "They'd have to give us some help, and they did with three turnovers. ... But we sent four guys to the NFL last year, and it's not like our program just rode in on the turnip truck"
ESPN today has certainly acted like we rode in on a turnip truck!

"I can't think of anybody that likes us. So that's not going to be new to our players," adds Matthews. "I think probably what's different about it is the fact that we went down and beat the great Virginia Tech Hokies in Lane Stadium. Certainly that adds to that mystique. That'd be the second-best thing, to beat the team that beat the team kind of deal."
"We're a more mature team than last year, and everyone knows what we have to do," says Dudzik. "We're not going to get too cocky off of this game, and we're ready to play Liberty."
some good quotes from Mickey and Drew

really? i guess each to his own, but I'd gladly contribute to a fund at JMU to keep Mickey around till he retires

I don't see why. I think he seems like a pretty good coach. Not your average, run of the mill guy that goes away after a few years and you never knew the program had him. He's a bit more of a mouth than a guy like Rocco, so it's a different style, but I like it.

He just talks way too much for me. Next thing you know you'll be hearing his opinion on global warming or something.

As a former sportscaster who used to endure hours & hours of coaches saying nothing, it is my opinion that guys like Mickey are a big breath of fresh air.

I didn't know Randy Stevens wasn't working the Bobcats beat for the Daily record anymore. He & I used to have a lot of laughs watch SWT play back in the day in San Marcos.

Now back to the regularly scheduled but meandering discussion.

Yes.
Are you planning to put your ballot on the N&A Blog? I've noticed the San Marcos Record beat writer for Texas State has posted his... http://smdrcatscradle.blogspot.com/2010 ... ed-in.html

After reading this guys answer to why he ranked JMU at 9, I wouldn't have any confidence in his rankings. He makes no sense at all.

And he put Montana at 3. I guess the Griz really "sold him" by beating up on a bad DII and losing to Cal Poly.

It really makes me wonder how these people get their jobs. And makes me wonder why I can't have his job. ;-)
