Flame Fans,

First of all, I wanted to say what a class act you all have been. Got to meet your AD tonight, really great guy. If I'm the MAC Commish I'm giving you a bid to join. Tori's dropped pass was a heartbreaker. To have the game winner wide open dropped will hurt for a while. But the fact is, we can't expect to play 2 quarters, and beat one of the top FCS teams. And while we can complain about the dropped ball at the end all we want, if we so much as show up in the first half, it isn't a problem. Just wanted to give you guys a big congrats on the win. The one thing I didn't like was the celebration. Look, I get it, it's a huge win to beat an FBS school. But you guys are a MAC level opponent. I feel like if you think you are there, then you shouldn't have been that excited to win... been there, done that. But otherwise I was really impressed... Mike Brown's a total stud. Even if we picked him off 3 times, he's the reason you guys won. Best of luck to you the rest of the way, I hope you wish the same for us. Hell, go win the whole thing, You'll have a Cardinal fan rooting for the Flames in the playoffs. Congrats again guys!

I was actually kinda disappointed that there wasnt more of a celebration. There were some hugs at mid field and we did stay there to pray and meet as a team but that's no different then what would have happened if we lost. I have pictures from when the clock was ending to 10 minutes after the game and I was excited to look at them and see all the partying when I got back to the hotel room only to be disappointed because they are LAME because nobody was jumping up and down or anything.

While I agree that we could compete (lower tier) in the MAC, the fact of the matter is we havent ever beaten a MAC team or any other FBS team in over 15 years.

There was a pretty big celebration. I had a pretty good seat for it. I'm not trying to diss you guys at all. But you're good enough to beat MAC teams... it shouldn't have been that much of a shocker. Great game, I hope we're on the schedule in the future.

HMO is correct: 21 years is "over 15 years."

I think it was a shocker because as much as we could talk about it, its just talk until it actually happens. This was the proof and opened our eyes that, "hey, we really have come a long way and we're a great team this yr" I see where you're coming from though

Nobody likes to see another team celebrating on their field. We get that. I seriously doubt there was any taunting or trashtalking after the game. This was indeed a big deal for our kids. We only get one of these FBS games a year (and sometimes not even that) so we don't get many shots at knocking one of you guys off.

Could we be competitive in the MAC? Absolutely. But I don't see that in our future. FBS, yes. MAC, probably not. But I love playing these schools near where I grew up.

And HMO, post those pics ASAP.

Please don't take my post about the celebrating as a diss. I really was impressed with your crew. It was a little irk, but overall... I'd be just fine if Liberty is the 14th member of MAC fball.

I was surprised how quickly the Cardinals bolted for the locker room. Usually we have more opposing players joing the midfield prayer after the game.

Thanks for getting a pic up, HMO.

I was talking about the stop on 4th down. Not the kneel down. Again it wasn't offensive, but you guys are good enough to win this game, it shouldn't be a huge shocker to you. And agreed, I hate woulda shoulda's but to drop the game winning pass is a heartbreaker for BSU fans. AGain, good luck this season, you have a new liberty fan in this Cardinal.

The feeling is mutual.

While we expected to win, we have been in this position before and had it slip through our fingers (a couple of years ago in Toledo comes to mind).

We know we're good enough to win, but we hadn't proved it until last night. Expecting to win and actually winning are 2 completely different things. When we beat Kent State in 2 years, there won't be any celebrating

I have no problem in the way the Flames celebrated at the stadium. Your team played a great game, over came mistakes, took advantage of your opportunities and had a couple of other things go your way - it was a win deserving of a celebration. You prepared and put yourselves in a position to win - clearly!
Yeah no one likes to see an opponent celebrate on their field but it will make our team more reticent to enduring that experience again.
The sign of a mature team with good leaders will take this experience and have something manifested from it that makes them better as individuals and as a team. Our Cardinals will do that even in the agony of defeat.
I think these Cardinals will get after Purdue and Central Michigan and wouldn't be surprised if last nights loss is a catalyst for victory against them.
So enjoy every ounce of your victory and don't have second thoughts about your celebrating - it is the essence of what makes college football so great!
I'll be cheering for the Flames going forward!

That's a great post.....come back from time to time with updates if you can. After all we want you to win out from now on too! I have no doubts you guys will compete really well in the MAC this year if you can have your 2nd half team for a full game.
