Rocket Fan,
Thank you for your insightful thoughts, what you say makes a whole lot of sense. I guess my emotions just get in my way sometimes. I agree and think you made such valid points. I guess I know that they are definitely passes and plays he can make, and like you said I just got frustrated when things seemed to being going so badly. I hope the coaches work with him and that we see more of what I know that he can contribute. thanks for the caring comments, what you said is insightful.. AuntieAnn

I just hope that the coaches at LU makes the decision that is good for the team concerning Zach or Brock for now and in the future. Who ever is called upon to lead the offense that he is the right person and that the coaches make the appropriate evaluations based on what they see as to who will fit in to the type of offense that is taking shape. I hope and pray that the coaches have the necessary experiance in which to make that important and sometimes painful decision.

I think Brock is not getting a fair shake as QB, I think it is a sin to keep changing like this, I am so disgusted by what is going on, If it is going to be Brock why cant we believe in him, a give him the time. He was an excellent Safety and field goal kicker, and punter in high school, I am just so upset seeing him stand on the sideline. What a waste of talent. He was first time on Safety for the state of PA. , he stopped many a touchdown. I am biased, but I am also human, and who would not be a little disgusted with what I am witnessing. AuntieAnn
In fairness to the coaches... when you play quarterback... it is that or nothing... unlike High School, you cant QB and play on Defense... it just isn't feasible because of practice and game day preparation. A WR is about the only position that can pull it off.

So for the coaches to use Brock on D they would have to take him off the QB list and I don't think Brock would want that.

We also have to take into account that Brock missed a lot of practice in the spring and is still essentially a Freshman on the field when it comes to starts.

If it did become obvious that Brock is not going to be the starter, then maybe Safety would be a good spot and he may even be the solution to our punting and kicking once Ben graduates... but right now we are putting the cart in front of the horse... I'm sure that Brock will have ample chance to win the confidence of the coaches in practice and games... if he plays well it will be his job, if he doesn't then Zach or someone else will be able to step in. I have full confidence in Coach Rocco in his ability to judge talent... he is a big part of the reason so many of UVa's players are now making a paycheck in the NFL.

Hopefully Coach Rocco will not look past Brock simply due to the fact he was a Karcher recruit and not his own. Hopefully he will do it in fairness and make a decision that will take us to that "next level".

I don't doubt for one second that Rocco will do whatever's best for the team. He won't care who recruited the players or anything like that.

I don't think so either but others in the know may know more. I just hope that the teams future aspirations go beyond the Big South. I think that is the case but only time will tell.

I think we all want the best for Brock AND the team, and if the best thing is sit and learn- do it now. The main concern is morale of the team, and not sacrificing a game out of loyalty to one particular player. The season is too short to stick with something if its not working for more than 2-3 quarters, as it clearly was NOT (for whatever reason)

I, for one, haven't given up on my fellow PA guy, and I'm sure his roomie, coaches and teamates haven't either.

But ya gotta do what it takes to win- and Rocco knows how to get it done

AnnieAnn don't listen to RocketFan!! He is really only 5 years old and just watched his first college game this past weekend. I agree - Brock is the best QB on our roster. He is big, has a great arm, mobile and has proven he can make the passes. He has been a little to comfortable in the pocket the past two games and failed to make quick enough reads, but maybe that is because he has lost a little confidence in his receivers ability to catch the ball.

We need to stick with Brock and let him work this out. He did great towards the end of last year, BECAUSE he was not fearful of getting pulled after a bad series. After all Terrell is great - but he's not burning up the stat sheet in Passing efficiency either.

AnnieAnn, I actually know where RocketFan lives. You let me know when you have time and we can egg his house together.

The reason Rocco lost patience with Brock Saturday in Savannah was that Brock couldn't hit the simple passes.

You've got to complete that bubble screen to Rashad with a man in your face, because on that play you will ALWAYS have a man in your face. By nature, the running back slips past a blitzer to get open. It's a pass you have to complete quickly and accurately, and Brock hasn't been in the same zip code as Rashad the last two times he's tried it.

Those three passes he missed on the drive right before halftime Saturday were simple. A quick hitch, an out ... these are not tough throws to make.

As he told me, the timing is fine. He's making all his reads. He's just not executing. He's a lot like a pitcher who can't find the strike zone right now.

IMHO, the best interests of this team are served by Brock getting things together and being the quarterback he knows he can be.

I'll tell you this, though: If LU can't throw the ball Saturday, it's going to be a miserable day at Wake. The game won't even be remotely competitive.

Ed Dantes wrote:A few months ago, someone posted an article about Terrell from the Washington Post, of all places and it mentioned his two-sport prowress. I say he should go for it; LU had some great success a few years back with Trey Miller doing both (as a go-to wide receiver and a starting left fielder).

Terrell Trying to Keep His Eye on Baseball

By Preston Williams

During football season, Manassas Park senior Zach Terrell was too busy winning games to realize that his high school career was on the verge of ending. It sank in for the quarterback-defensive back after he collected the Virginia A Division 2 championship trophy.

Now that same end-of-the-road realization is starting to dawn on him for baseball, a sport that Terrell may or may not someday take up at Liberty University, where he has signed to play football.

Terrell used to be a baseball player who played football. After the autumn success of the past two years, he's now a football player who plays baseball. He acknowledges that there was somewhat of a lack of commitment on his part earlier this spring in regard to what once was his first-love sport.

"In the beginning [of the season], I thought it was probably the end, like I wasn't going to play again, so I guess I wasn't taking it as serious," Terrell said on his home field Friday night after a 4-3 loss to Bull Run District leader George Mason.

Manassas Park Coach Jeff Lloyd said scouts from four professional organizations turned out to watch Terrell this season. They liked the shortstop's athleticism and swing -- he's batting just under .500 with 12 extra-base hits despite often being pitched around -- but told Lloyd they questioned Terrell's desire to play baseball.

"A baseball kid is a kid who lives it, plays it, sleeps it seven days a week, and [Terrell] has other interests, one being football," Lloyd said. "It's hard to gauge [scouts'] interest because of that, but they have to be interested to come out and see him."

"They came in the beginning, and that's when I was playing like I didn't care, so I kind of made a bad name for myself out there playing like that," said Terrell, who will graduate having rewritten the school's record books in baseball and football. "I didn't want them to think that I wasn't going to go out there and try my best. . . . I [pretend now] I don't have the football scholarship and have to do something for baseball."

The loss to George Mason was the third one-run district setback for Manassas Park (8-9, 3-4), and the second against the front-running Mustangs. Terrell labored through a 144-pitch complete game, including a 34-pitch first inning. George Mason (9-5, 6-1) scored single runs in four innings.

The fifth through seventh batters had seven of the Mustangs' 10 hits off Terrell, who struck out six, walked three, balked home the tying run in the sixth and gave up three straight singles (one an infield hit) with one out in the seventh, the last driving in the winning run.

Mustangs sophomore Byron Mendenhall allowed six hits -- two by Cougars sophomore shortstop David Brown -- but just one after the third inning. He struck out nine and walked two, and retired the side in order in the seventh.

It has been a frustrating season for Manassas Park, with no true No. 1 pitcher and a fairly inexperienced lineup beyond Terrell and senior first baseman Ricky Moyers. But the Cougars recovered from being outscored 36-3 the first week of the season, part of a 1-4 start

I don't know who should be the QB but.... KK stuck with guys like Troth and Condon -good practice players who couldn't make the five yard game pass that our opponets made with their eyes closed --- way too long. The LU players I want give their all to win the game not get individual stats or playing time. Let the hot player on game day play and let the rest support them. At the end of the season there's only one stat that matters - W/L.

Thats funny, ProtoHYPE....i will say i understand your need to vent being a Bucs fan and its understandable, HA.
The key difference i don't think anyone has mentioned in the two is simply Height/Weight. Terrell ( if not rolling out of the pocket) will struggle to see over the big uglies and complete a pass over the middle and will be forced to dance to find a hole. No matter how fast you are that could put you in a bad situation, because teams will eventually catch on to that, even though Towson didn't right away.
While Brock has a clear line of sight and the size to be able to take a hit from a small corner or possibly DB without it being a sure sack everytime. It's all about confidence and whatever the coaches need to do for him to get it back i am sure they will. With a tough opponent this week, surely the game will start with just about every man in the box. If we want to compete at all i think the first few series we should air it out and see what happens otherwise Rashad is going to get smothered.

GMTM - save the money from all the eggs and save for some new headsets for bulldogs games....you sounded very fair away this past week as i was listening.

AuntieAnn - if you do throw eggs at my house i am sure you will have to bring your car since Proto doesn't allow food in his new Mercedes. You may also have to throw them as well since Proto has a noodle arm.

Don't insult me - I don't drive a Mercedes. My line wouldn't work then - "there is one major difference between a porcupine and a BMW - The Pricks are inside of the BMW."

And don't worry about my arm strength Annieann - RocketFan is homeless so we can just drop them off the bridge he is sleeping under.

And about the Bucs comment - RocketFan is just bitter - at least we didn't blow a 17 point lead in like 2 minutes like his Eagles. Thank goodness for the 49ers!!

Ok - on to QB situation again - you made my argument. Brock has more intangibles to be a better QB than Terrell. He needs to be in the games getting his confidence back. This isn't the old KK style - Smith is much better than those old QBs - we have all seen it. He can do it - just needs to work on making those safe easy throws.
