High Point University will continue its tradition of bringing inspirational speakers to its Commencement exercises by featuring seven-time winner of the Tour de France, Lance Armstrong, as the 2011 Commencement speaker. Armstrong will speak on Saturday, May 7, 2011, during Commencement exercises on the HPU campus.

Armstrong will become part of an extraordinary lineup of HPU Commencement speakers, including former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (2005), Her Majesty Queen Noor of Jordan (2006), Dr. Bill Cosby (2007), U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas (2008), NASA Astronaut Dr. Buzz Aldrin (2009) and Muhtar Kent, CEO of the Coca-Cola Company (2010).

Perhaps they should start going lower key on commencement honorariums and invest in their athletic programs.

They're throwing a crap ton of money at their athletic programs. The next 5-10 years are going to be very big for HPU as a whole as they introduce new facilities and things like that. One thing about HPU is when they do something, they do it right. All of their new buildings are gorgeous and their baseball stadium is very nice.

I agree, HPU has really gone first class with the improvements to their campus. It is quite nice.
