so I get this new Toshiba laptop for Fathers Day/B'day

very nice. large screen, etc.

Win7, IE 8, about a billion GIG RAM and HD (roughly)

for 6-8 weeks, no problems. The other day, I start having problems with the video's loading. You-tube, no prob- news websites, no good. Common error: "j.parentnode is null or not an object"

Now, even the LU vid's won't run. I had no problem playing them when I first ran this thing.

Tonight I tried to system restore back to June- TOTAL CRASH. Had to reboot from CD. What a friggin' disaster.

I'm up and running now- tried installing and running from Mozilla Firefox. No change, just loads pages a little slower than IE 8. Not impressed.

Maybe a result of all these "updates" that install automatically? MrsPA says I went wrong by installing updates for Adobe Flash & Java

SCORCHO- help

thats why I went out on a limb and tried Firefox

I clicked on the videos over 5 min ago using it and they're STILL loading.

"transfering images from wset.images.worldnow.com"

what now: Google Chrome maybe?

PS: never did get the LU footage to run in Moz. FF

never had any problems using IE7 or 8 until this last week- I'm pretty sure somethings up w/ this laptop. though numerous scans haven't found anything

alternate browsers dont seem to make any difference

I'm no wiz, but...
You said that it updates automatically, but you might want to actually check and make sure it is up to date. I would think Toshiba's support website and Microsoft's website would be able to check that out for you. I've done that for my vaio a few times and it's been helpful.

agreed. I did so, and found 14 updates that were evidently awaiting my approval.

no change tho.

I'm beginning to think there maybe a problem with my ISP. Gonna call them in the morning.

Ya know- maybe their tubes are all clogged with those commercial internets.

that's probably the issue

and the retards have entered the conversation.

meanwhile i just returned my father his macbook after having all sorts of network issues with the latest update. network popups not going away and the entire machine freezing. there was no fix for this by the way, apple probably says its user error. i had to jerry rig it essentially.

i also have my brothers imac at home that i'm working on because wouldn't you believe it? it is having problems playing flash based videos as well as having it cpu running pretty much at 100% all the time.

i have seen instances where isp's will have lines down and shut of a/v streaming. sometimes its all a/v streaming sometimes its just to certain sites.

Wrong discussion...personally I like PCs but I did get to use a friend's Mac some last week and it did pretty well (although it had a few glitches that made things a bit maddening at times) and I certainly could see getting a Mac for DJing weddings at some point.
