The latest revision was pretty recent and was a pretty big one too. Until that revision I believe there was no doubt we'd get it "done" in time for the first game. From what I've been told, they're still relatively confident we'll be able to play that game on campus.

My private box surely didn't extend the build time that badly!

What is the other "recent and...pretty big" revision of which I have yet to be notified about?

Found this interesting
Each Tuesday, Barber and Falwell meet with contractors from Branch & Associates, Inc., for status updates on the project. By next Tuesday, they’ll have a good idea whether or not the Sept. 4 game will be played at Williams Stadium or at Lynchburg City Stadium.

Liberty officials have already met with City Stadium officials about the possibility (and in fact, began talking with them months ago), and City Stadium will be available Sept. 4. Obviously, Liberty would rather play the game at Williams Stadium. But the Flames are on the road the next three weeks after that game, so that would give workers plenty of extra time to have the building completely ready should the university choose to play at City Stadium.
...even more interesting is that Chris feels as though our new stadium will be right in there with JMU, Montana, and...Elon????

Who would have thought that City Stadium had such great additional rooms and services.
Just think- we actually went for a while without visitors changing rooms at Williams.

Just a little fyi from one of the contractors...

One of the contractors said that there is no way this would ever have been attempted if the economy was normal at the time of bidding. The only reason anyone agreed to have the stadium ready for this season is because so many companies were sitting idle so they would agree to about anything.

I've been following this thing as close as anyone, and I've never heard one word about it.

I blame LCA. Teardown had to wait a week or two for their season finale.

I hope they give Chris something to write on the 10th. There's going to be a lot of nail biting(by fans) over the next week.

From the article, I'm still not convinced the project will run late. August 10 is the final checkup to make sure everything is in order.

well then I have no idea how I knew this would be a possibility. I have no inside sources anywhere..I just know what I read in the paper, the website and on flamefans...so it had to have come from somewhere..I will look around and try to figure out where I had read it before.

I actually didn't see those posts. I went to the most recent post this morning and skipped em. My bad.

I don't know what the exact revision is. I was just told that they changed something enough that it could potentially make it tougher to get in by the first game. I'm not up there anymore so I don't get the details.

I can understand not wanting to work up there in the dark but there is plenty of daylight left from 5pm-8pm and I don't see where glass in the press tower should be a hold up for work on the concessions and bathrooms under the stands. Sorry not buying it.

Yeah, I don't understand them not working all night either. I mean there's this wonderful thing called lighting.

And I hope the luxury suite owners get a 20% refund if there's not a game there Sept 4.

my gosh people, dont you think the dept has a plan to reimburse luxury box owners?? im sure the contingency plan is well thought out. in regards to city stadium, the atmosphere was good back in the day. my freshman year was the last year there and it was always packed and loud. LU bused students to the game and it always was a fun time. though it's not williams it will still be cool regardless. i have full confidence in the university to make the game day experience there a good thing if it does indeed happen.

Im with smoothie on this one...it just seems like everyone is about to jump off the proverbial bridge because there is a CHANCE this might not be done in time for the first game. As my compadre said, Im sure that they have already considered all the potential scenarios and have appropriate plans in place. If we didnt have almost two straight months of the largest snows in VA history, this wouldnt even be a point of any hand wringing. Id be looking forward to the games no matter where they were played...and if the first game ends up being at City Stadium it will just heighten my anticipation for the finished product in Williams Stadium...but here is a word of advice (since Im assuming most of the posters here are Christians): have a little faith in Mr Barber, the contractors and the guys who are probably a lot more in the know about this than most of us are

Although I prefer Williams Stadium for our first game I don't believe I'll mind it being played at City Stadium, it's walking distance from my house and I kinda like the idea of walking to a college game.

09 this project would have been attempted in good economic times, the difference is the price tag would have been higher. commerical construction is at an all time low so many construction companies have closed and the ones that have weathered the storm are bidding low to keep their employees working. the job is not that ambitious and the schedule is certainly not unresasonable. i am still confident that we will be in williams for the opener even if the box just needs punch list items complete.

+1

I live at the Lynchburg Inn (now named the Liberty University Residential Annex ) and am within walking distance of City Stadium. It would actually be pretty fun to have my dorm tailgate at the Inn instead driving to Barnes and Nobles and then collectively walk to the game. Obviously I'd rather watch the game at Williams Stadium, but having watched a football game over there last year (Amherst vs. E.C. Glass) I think it'd be fun.

Thats just what I overheard from one of the sub-contractors. He said everything has been rushed including the oringial designs and now becasue of the rushed designs the revision at this stage are making it more difficult.

I don’t have any idea what is normal for a construction project and revisions along the way. I’m just passing along what I heard from a person directly involved.

Meh. We've done it before and with a large group of people I think it'd be ok. Although you're right stragglers/ people leaving the game early prob shouldn't be walking that road themselves.

Haha....from an earlier conversation, I still don't understand how people add an "S" to the end of store names.
My mother in law does this and it drives me nuts! (Honestly, this is about the only thing that annoys me about her.)

Barnes and Noble's, Target's, Chic-fil-a's. I don't get it!
