I love weird continuity edits:

"A lot more concessions, better bathroom facilities," said Mickey Guridy, Liberty University's Senior Associate Athletic Director.

"They'll have kitchens in there with food," said Charles Spence"

Wow! Those are some fancy bathrooms! :dontgetit

Call ESPN! They need to do an update on their "Outside the Lines" report on stadium food sanitation.

Great blog by Chris regarding stadium construction

http://www.flamefans.com/forums/posting ... =2&t=14320

Found this interesting
Each Tuesday, Barber and Falwell meet with contractors from Branch & Associates, Inc., for status updates on the project. By next Tuesday, they’ll have a good idea whether or not the Sept. 4 game will be played at Williams Stadium or at Lynchburg City Stadium.

Liberty officials have already met with City Stadium officials about the possibility (and in fact, began talking with them months ago), and City Stadium will be available Sept. 4. Obviously, Liberty would rather play the game at Williams Stadium. But the Flames are on the road the next three weeks after that game, so that would give workers plenty of extra time to have the building completely ready should the university choose to play at City Stadium.

I don't mean this to sound negative...but if anybody thought this was going to actually get finished on time they have not been around liberty for very long..I will leave it at that...

I can see both sides of the story, but they've never once said anything about not playing the game at the Bill. It's always been, worst case scenario they'd play without the insides being done. Now all of a sudden it might not be a game there. I'd be ticked too. Shoot, I'm ticked just at the thought of it and I have season tickets and only live 2 hours away.

From the get go City Stadium has always been the worst-case scenario. That hasn't changed.

If we play in Williams, I'll be there. If we play at City Stadium, I'm staying in Knoxville. I've got a feeling that's most people's opinion just change Knoxville to whatever town they live in.

Logistically, the biggest problem is that if they're up against the deadline and choose to play at Williams with a skeleton facility, Branch will have to move all of the construction equipment out of the stadium -- a process that will take two days -- and then move it back in after the game, another two days. So you might lose a week and endanger having the stadium ready for the Savannah State game. It's a long-term vs. short-term sort of thing.

Maybe internally it has been. But publicly, never one word about it. I understand why it's been that way, but look at people like SumitUp. He's got plane tickets to come into that game. You have to plan that stuff out way in advance.

Wow. Not having it ready for 9/4 would be incredibly disappointing. I think we all have been watching the progress thinking that it was going to be tight, but I never really thought it woudn't be ready. Not that we need a home field advantage against St.F, but the atmosphere at city stadium would be pretty crappy, to say the least.

It was brought up from the beginning..and the first time I read that I pretty much assumed that is how it would go down...again I am not being negative...it is just the way things always are at liberty..they start big projects with hopes to get it done a certain date, but it simply is not realistic. Ultimately the end product is going to be great and worth the wait

10000? That's it? What a joke. You can add me to the list of people who will be ticked if the game isnt played at Williams Stadium. Finished or not, how hard is it to hire some security to guard the parts of the facility and equipment to make sure no one tampers with it on game day? I think if the building isn't ready then just open up the seating at Williams Stadium at least.

did people simply not pay attention..this city stadium solution is nothing new....it has been said from the beginning this would be the case if it was not complete...

it depends how much they have left..if all they have left is some paint then of course it would be simple...but if there is much more to be done then that and they have to remove equipment then put it all back that is just simply too much work...

this shouldn't be a shock to anybody..in fact I am more shocked that people are shocked by this possible development

No I've always known it was a possibility. But that doesn't make it acceptable (in my book, not that what I think matters to the big dogs). Again post security if it's really that necessary with the equipment and any other areas that need it but I don't see why the equipment needs to be moved. Just trying to use common sense. A possibility of 17,000+ fans at the opening at game or probably less than 10,000 at Lynchburg Stadium. Who would want to watch a game there??? I'll go just because I'll be in Lynchburg anyway but who would travel more than 45 minutes for that? I say open the gates and let the fans fill up the stadium :D I didn't go on a year long deployment just to come back and watch Liberty play at some other joke of a field

I believe they would have been further along had we not of had those almost two months straight of winter snow storms and if I'm not mistaken, they didn't work during that time. Of all the times to have the worst winter, imagine how much further along they would have been?

I spent 3 years watching games at City Stadium, but I know if I'd been planning on being there for the home opener, looking forward to the new Bill, then City Stadium would be a major disappointment. Of course, I also tend to agree with thepostman -- Liberty tends to decide on a date something will be done with no regard for reality, and with little planning for poor weather and other things that happen with construction schedules. I've always wondered whether the September 4 date was realistic, but I guess a part of me hoped that Liberty got it right this time.

Oh, well -- there's still a chance that it will be done, and this whole discussion will be moot anyway.

As far a track records for timely completion are concerned, past projects at LU don't mean a lot here. This is in the hands of Branch and Associates, and from what I know they have a pretty good history of getting their builds done on time and within budget.

Having said that, the bad winter certainly slowed things down, but I'm still optomistic about being able to get enough done to be in there on the 4th. I would think any heavy equipment will be long gone, and what's left to do will be inside the press box building.

There have been a ton of revisions on the project, and that's played a role as well.

As I said, nothing has been decided yet, and I know Barber and Falwell are going to fight like mad to get the thing done on time. But there is a fallback if necessary, even if it's not very palatable to fans.
