as an aside- that "owly" page has a bunch of (I assume) LU-specific photos. Some are good, many are "whatever", but this one caught my eye. A road to somewhere? Maybe that extension to the perimeter road that is supposed to connect in between the FOC and Campus North?

I was thinking that, but thought the road changed direction to much in the previous picture. Man - while they have the tractors there - just go ahead and just level those dorms so we can start building East Campus types there :)

agreed. Back in the day conventional wisdom was that there was some sort of height restriction due to the airport being close- now that we have a 6 story stadium down the street, I don't think that holds much water.

also the 6 story dorm at the far end of the circle closest to the airport should have thrown that out the window

That would've been nice a few years ago. My eclipse got the wheels knocked out of alignment and rims bent because of the frequent pot holes on those roads haha. Ahh the memories.

I was there when those dorms were built, and there was no discussion of height restrictions that I recall. They are Butler buildings, and were supposed to be "temporary". It was all about what they could get built the quickest and cheapest.

I seem to recall someone mentioning something in Chapel once or twice about there being limits on the heights of buildings close to the parking lot as well. BUt that was in the '80s and the FAA went through a great deal of deregulation since then.
