Although school’s out for summer, high school football players across the county are working out in preparation for — and anticipation of — a new season. This is the first in a series of reports on the top returning players in Walton County.

Tasked with starting a football program from scratch at Walnut Grove High School last fall, Harris Rainbow knew one of his most important decisions would be finding a quarterback to run his fledgling offense.

Turns out, it didn’t take him long to decide that Jonah Guinn would be the Warriors’ inaugural signal-caller.

“It was obvious from the get-go that he had all the skills you look for in the leader of a team,” Rainbow said. “I’ve been coaching for 15 years and I don’t think I’ve ever had such an all-around player that does everything well.”
And here is the LU connection some of the Old Hags may remember ...
Expanding his skill set as a quarterback will only help him achieve his ultimate goal of playing football on the next level.

“I want to play college football,” said Guinn, who’s father Jeff was a quarterback at Liberty University. “But my goal right now is to get Walnut Grove into the state playoffs for the first time.”

And here's a summary of Jonah from the National Underclassmen Combine in Atlanta in March 2010:
