Mount Airy's Alan York will leave ISP Sports to become the play-by-play announcer for the Liberty University Flames.
A familiar voice on the local airwaves and a familiar figure in Mount Airy is moving on.

Alan York, the former voice of the Mount Airy Bears, has accepted a job at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va., as the radio play-by-play broadcaster for the school’s football and men’s basketball programs.

Maybe it's just the haircut and the sportscoat, but the guy looks a lot like Coach Roccco to me. Anybody else notice the resemblence?

I just saw this announcement. I think it is a great hire. I used to talk with him a lot before HPU games. He has done a lot for a relatively young guy. He knows the business and he knows sports. I have listened to a few HPU games that he has done and I thing he is going to be a good addition to our team. Welcome Alan.

He has been unbelievable. he had quite a call on both the Gordon 4 point play and then the game winner vs. UNCA and then the play Thursday night too...many announcers are lucky to get two in their careers and Alan has called two in consecutive seasons
