In an effort to educate, preview, and most importantly, make fun of, the upcoming teams which dare play the Cardinals, OTP is proud to present the Know a ’10 Opponent series. Like we always caution, previewing and attempting to quantify the unquantifiable, especially two months away from the season is basically begging for failure, but we’ll fling some poo and see what sticks, shall we? I mean, after all, we predicted like 10 wins for BSU last season and we totally nailed that one, didn’t we? I can’t find the results, so let’s just go with that. So sit back, boys and girls, and know your ’10 opponents.

Three quarters of this article is mostly mindless journalistic dribble until he gets to comparing the potential of Ball State losing the game. 8) I think that he is spot on with Mike being a serious threat in the game and the our running game being a a threat with Aldrekis. I definitely think that if they let Mike run around in the holes they leave for him it will be a very long day in Muncie for Ball State. I am just trying to be optimistic because of how we did at WVU and we hung with the mountaineers. We have a high chance of taking this from under their feet. :D

P.S. I don't know where he gets off on that LU is made of money. I know that were are better off financially that we have been in previous years but this guy this were rollin' in the dough. I guess he thinks that cuz we have expanded out campus and were expanding our stadium but that shows how much he knows

Accept that Korrey Davis will be running the football and not Aldreakis barring injury and a huge turn. Guy is a monster. Aldreakis might be the backup

I have heard that Korey had a great year at UMASS and a an outstanding performance vs. Texas Tech. I also saw his summary on how well he did at the spring game. I hope that aldrekis gets better and that he has gotten substantially better from last year and he had a decent year last year. BTW If you think Korey is a monster lets not forget the strength of Aldrekis. I saw him at the WVU game and when he was taking a kickoff return with the ball he would be dragging 2-3 defenders during the rush. This guy is a work mule with a lot of strength. Even Nick pierce said that Rocco commented that Aldrekis has the ability to be something special. That was his freshman year and he can only get better and I cannot wait to see Aldrekis drag defenders like he did last year. I just wish he had a little bit more burst and explosiveness to his game that would make him even more of a threat from the backfield. Lets wait and see after summer camp pans out :?:

And Chase Barnett may be better than all of them when all is said and done. It's going to be a dogfight for PT in the backfield, and the fact is Mike will probably carry the ball more than any of them, and we will pass a lot as well. Don't be surprised if a back or 2 transfers out after this year.

MAC – Ball State

It seems like 10 years ago, but it was only 2008 when Ball State was undefeated in the regular season and playing like a team legitimately good enough to play with some of the big boys. And then head coach Brady Hoke left, the wheels came off, and 2009 was a complete and utter disaster.

The offensive lumps taken last year should pay off. There are plenty of veterans and lots to get excited about with all five starters returning to the still-emerging line, the top five receivers coming back, RB MiQuale Lewis getting a sixth year of eligibility, and good options at quarterback to hope for more consistency. Defensively, the Cardinals won’t be a rock by any stretch, but they should be stronger after finishing last in the MAC in pass efficiency D and 106th in the nation in sacks.

The schedule should all but ensure a rebound and a winning season with SE Missouri State and Liberty to start the year, and with home games against Eastern Michigan and Akron, to go along with winnable road dates against Kent, Toledo, and Buffalo.

I strongly disagree with that. I think they are underestimating us greatly.

I saw that, but I'm not sure how many of my fellow dorm-mates would be willing to pay $65 so we shall see.

The $65 figure is an estimate based on actual cost without a subsidy like we had for the Stony Brook trip. Hopefully we can get some help again this year to lower the cost for students and others with limited resources.

As far as comparing the cost of the bus with carpooling, you need to be realistic. It's easy to do some quick calculations and figure how much the gas will cost, divide it by how many riders and say it's cheap. That's a great deal for everyone except the car owner. AAA says the average cost to operate a car is now 56 cents/mile. Less than 15 cents of that is for gas. The actual cost of taking a vehicle to Muncie and back will be in the neighborhood of $650.

Unless your car holds 10 or more, the bus is a bargain, and nobody needs to put their life in the hands of a 20 year old dorm mate driving back across the West Virginia mountains in the middle of the night. With the bus, there will be 2 professional drivers taking shifts to meet the legal guidelines, and you are in a vehicle which is inherently much safer. If you and your buds start talking about spending the night in Muncie, unless you know someone there who will put you up, the cost goes up even more.

Olldflame, in all seriousness, the trip to Stony Brook on the bus was one of the highlights of my fall semester. Thanks to you and HMO for organizing it, and I look forward to a similar trip to Muncie (minus the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, and the Brooklyn Bridge). And it's a great way to meet new friends!

I had a great time myself, CJ (even though if you recall, I was "playing hurt" ). Like you said, it's a great opportunity to meet people you previously only knew on line (if at all).

Looking at the list of people who have comitted so far, all but BJ are veterans of the SB trip. I guess that Might be a clue that folks enjoyed themselves.

maybe i missed this info somewhere but i've been looking and looking and can't find any answers. Is the LU vs Ball St game going to be televised ANYWHERE? I mean besides game tracker is there any other way of keeping track of the game? id even be willing to pay some money to watch this single game. Ball St is too far away but I'll def be at the JMU game assuming there not sold out! Buying my tickets soon!

Sly,
That would be great If you could tell us if there is a pay per view service to watch this game. I will be somewhere and I will not be able to watch in person. I am looking forward to this information. Thanks in advance Sly.

Football Game at with Purdue vs. Ball State to be Televised to be on Big Ten Network.

http://ballstatesports.com/ViewArticle. ... =204951108

Here is a quote of interest in this article:
The Mid-American Conference is in the process of completing its television deal with ESPN and will announce game times in the near future. Once the MAC television games are set, Ball State will announce its remaining home game times for the 2010 season.
I think that it might be on ESPN 3 after the rest gets announces games closer to the game day.
I also saw that they have an all access on the Ball State website like the Big South Conference has when you want to watch LU football games online. The all access is pretty easy to find on ballstatesports.com on their on demand all access site, for a nominal fee of course.

Just speculation of course.
