The most dominant victor was Five Guys in the Burgers category (74%). The lowest score to win came from Firehouse Subs & Macados in the Sandwiches category (23%).

Do you have any thoughts on the results? Any surprises?

Sly, can't we have some kind of one-day playoff system for those categories that ended in a tie?

The big surprise for me was that Jersey Mike's didn't make the top 2 in sandwich shops, and neither did Bob Evans for breakfast, which was Doc's favorite location for that meal. I wish we could have added Hibachi Grill on Monday and then stormed the ballot box for a last minute run for top Asian restaurant.

Jersey Mikes is awful and while the pictures in the store represent NJ, that sandwiches sure don't.

OK, the runoffs are up. We are still have troubles with the alternate Red/White template (redsilver3) with these polls. So you will have to switch back to original Blue/Red Eagle template (proglass_red) in your User Control Panel under Board Preferences if you have troubles voting.

Also, Red Lobster in seafood? C'mon.

People really need to try the Blue Marlin. And no, I have no friends who work there.

Lang, the Blue Marlin is on the same street (Bedford Ave) as my church, but I've never eaten there. What do you recommend on their menu?

I have added a Best of Lynchburg trip on Gowalla based on this year's results. If you have/get the app, just send a friend request to Flamefans and you'll have access to the trip as well as the LU Campus Tour Trip & Big South Trip.

If you haven't tried out Gowalla yet (or if you did a year ago before they got everything running properly) then you need to give a try. The new iPhone app allows you to check-in not only on Gowalla but also Foursquare & Facebook Places at the same time. It has a ton of new features as well. And yes, I am admitted Gowalla honk.

Jersey Mike's is the only chain sub shop in this town that puts enough meat on the sandwich to get me full. Maybe I am a pig, but just saying . . .
