Are there any chairback seats in the stadium? I am use to Papa John's Cardinal stadium in Louisville. It is all chairbacks. What is parking like for games? How much does it cost? What about tailgating prior to games? Are there any LU pre-game, post-game, in-game traditions that I need to know about that fans participate in? Is the school bookstore open in the summer? I'm gonna make it a priority to roll through the LU campus on my way to a camping trip at Natural Bridge in July. I don't have any Flames gear yet and will be searching for some. Is the stuff in the bookstore the same as what is offered in the online store?

mike, i love your enthusiasm. try the link below for all the pricing. the chairbacks are in sect 104-106, and 204-206. yes we have tailgating. in fact Flamefans.com is widely reponsible for starting tailgating at Liberty and it has grown. we even have "Rocco town" where a dorms can come camp out the night before the game right outside the student gate. our atmopshere has grown every year since rocco came to coach. the bookstore is open during the summer and they have a wide selection of stuff. universal t's in lynchburg (434) 525-7271 also sells some nice stuff and you can also get gear at wal-mart. traditions...well we sing the school song after every touchdown, we do the first down chant after every first down, hmmm...what else am i missing everyone?? since the school is so young we are building tradtions.

The only tradition I know of in-game is the first down chant (you can pick that up pretty quick). The 12th Man is something new they started to get the dorms involved (Theyll announce the first dorm to participate in that during the Chancellor's Cookout in August). The only post game tradition I can think of besides the post game prayer huddle with the two teams is when the football team comes over to the student section and high fives all the students on the front row while the band plays the fight song. SJ or some of the other guys could chime in on any other things that go on

If you don't want to bring your own tailgating grills & coolers, HMO's alumni tent always has a good catered meal, as does the Flames Club tent. And we go to games rain or shine. Remember to wear RED to football games.

Parking's free.

We allow tailgating anywhere on campus. Obviously we ask that you don't drink but that hasn't stopped people before unfortunately.

One of the traditions started in 07 was that we raise a blue "71" flag before every game to honor Dr. Falwell.

The bookstore has much more than the online store shows. I know that this fall there has been talk of getting a very limited number of Nike polos and things like you would see on the sidelines from the coaches. The school's been working on this for years and it'll likely sell pretty quickly if it does happen. We have quite a few Under Armour and other brand polos now and a ton of t-shirts and hats.

We have a fight song and it's a good one. I've got it on my computer and as a ringtone on my phone for when certain people call. I've rolled the windows down and blared it as loud as I could driving through other campuses. It's not your typical fight song but once you come to a bunch of games and learn the words and sing it with other people you fall in love with it.

IMHO, our fight song is fine. If you compare it to the classics of the genre like "Hail, Hail to Old Notre Dame", "On Wisconsin" and Michigan's "Hail to the Victors", I would say both music and lyrics are similar in style. My main criticism would be that it's a little short. This is the kind of tradition that takes time to build. Things like teaching the words every year in Freshman orientation will help.

The fight song is okay, I love it just because it's LU's but I think it needs some more ummph...piccolo's twirling, trombones blaring, drums thumping....i don't know, but I'll still sing it with pride and by the way, can someone give me the link to download it? Thanks!

I FULLY approve of the fight song. The man who wrote it was instrumental in my wife & I meeting, so I'm a little biased. But I'd like to think that aside from that, I still enjoy it. Its good!

Call me a band homer but I rather like what the drumline does with the fight song...is it wrong to have some fun and be creative with it?

If it's a fight song that is supposed to be played a certain way, yes. There are some things you simply don't mess with.

If any of this involves more unathletic stick-tossing women I will pass.

I enjoy the song mostly because it IS Liberty's.....well, technically not owned by Liberty, but you get the idea. The uniqueness of the song encompasses the culture of the school. From our history to our mission to all those freaking homeschooled kids, this whole place is like none other.

If the Fight Song was something different(better or worse) I'd probably feel the same way.
