What do you think?

Our attendance at home openers under Rocco:
2006 - 8,546
2007 - 14,925
2008 - 15,311
2009 - 16,112

New capacity will be around 18,600

Whoever said 1500-1599 is smoking something. No way we get under 16.

Capacity should now be at 19,200. We added in 7,200 new seats, unless I'm missing something and something got changed, because that was the original plan.

17,328

As long as it's not raining, there's no way we don't get at least 16,000 - we got that much last year. Add in the new stadium and the continued hype around the program and we break 17 grand.

Polls still aren't working for me.

The simple fact that this thread was started in JUNE says that the hype is certainly there for some big numbers this season. I'm going to do my best to get at least my own fanny in a seat for the opener (although I would prefer to stand). Any word on if we are allowed to stand in the upper deck, or if that section will be sit-on-your-hands only as well?

(Disclaimer to all of those about to flame me: I am aware the culture is changing on the Baptist side, but it is still slow-going over there.)

I believe the hype and I have been drinking the kool-aid. Remember you build they will come. I feel that this stadium will spark an interest and naysayers in lynchburg and the surrounding areas and people will come see our team whup some serious butt this year. As the stadium expands even more throughout the years more and more people will want to see what they big deal is. It can only bring more and more people as time passes on. Especially when we play in state rival such as Bill &Mary, JMU, ODU, Richmond, and other teams that are near virginia as well. This will help bring teams to da'burg that would not have scheduled in the past. I see big numbers this season and even more in the coming years.

I am still having issues with the polls and I'm not able to vote, but I would vote for a sellout. The team has continued to improve, the student/alumni population has grown in the Lynchburg area, and the stadium will draw interest from some that may not have visited otherwise. I have not been to a game in about 8 years, but I bought 8 season tickets and will try to get to as many games as possible. I would have planned to go to a game or two this year, but I would not have purchased season tickets if the stadium improvements were not made.

For some reason, the red & white alternate template in your User Control Panel doesn't seem to match up to the poll templates. I have no idea why. I usually change templates to the red & blue "eagle" template to vote in polls before going back to my preferred red & white view. I hope to find a new template that will be an improvement from a visual & operational standpoint soon. But this all ties back to finding a capable admin to help us out.

I watch a lot of The Price is Right in the summer months when I'm not teaching, so I'm going to go with 19,551.

I'd say 19,522 :D I would like to see more students come to the games. I hope more enthusiasm is generated by the administration and coaching staffs to bring the kids out, especially to the basketball games. Bring back "Jerry's Kids".

I agree - I'll say 17,169 because the Red Flush won't be bringing many of their own and the name won't draw in too many fence sitters locally.
We're not going to be using the opponent to draw in fans for the opener. It will be all about the stadium. So, other than the fact that they won't be bringing many fans, I don't think it will have an impact on the attendance.

I know I'm just one person, but I've got to think there are out of town people like me that know they can only get to a few games and because the first game is St. Francis are saying they'll wait til Homecoming or something else. I haven't even considered coming to the opener because I know we'll win by 50 and I don't want to drive five hours to see a game that's over by halftime regardless of how pretty the stadium is. As much as I love our football team and our school, this game isn't an attractive one to drive in for.

BINGO! We'll only have 17K because it's new but not more than that because of the Red whatevers.
