If you want to talk ASUN smack or ramble ad nauseum about your favorite pro or major college teams, this is the place to let it rip.

I agree. Altidore has all the tools and just needs to refine his play. Some better passes to him and centers into the box from the mids would also help him greatly too. The only things Jozy Needs to work on is more consistent game in and game out effort, acceleration, and moving into space more often.

Nice come from behind win over Turkey yesterday. It looks like Robbie Findley may give them some of the speed they lost with Charlie Davies out.

Two completely different team on the field for the second half yesterday. That was some exciting stuff. Hopefully that carry that style of play onto the pitch in 2 weeks.

Did anybody see that the traitor Rossi didn't make the final Italian squad? That kid would have been the face of US soccer and probably would have started 4 WC's but now he gets to sit at home and watch. Eat it Geppetto!

Yeah, I saw that, it made me laugh. I wonder who he'll be rooting for in private.

The English captain had an injury as well.

And Jozy will be touch and go
I was just about to post this.

I think it's good for the US with Ferdinand gone. I thought it was funny that he got hurt defending a guy that nobody thought would or should be on the English squad, Emile Heskey. Guess he had the team for a reason.

Best thing about the England situation:

Both the captain and the starting goalkeeper come from a bunch of loser clubs

USA is playing Australia in a warmup match right now (ESPN2). Buddle in for Jozy, and he scores a goal 3 minutes in.

The USA squad won 3-1 with Buddle scoring twice. At least 2 or 3 more scoring opportunities were missed. One by Findley when he beat the off side trap, got around the keeper and had the whole goal to shoot at, but rushed things and pushed it right. Pretty good win. The Aussies aren't usually thought of as a soccer power, but they have actually been on quite a roll lately.

They're dropping like flies. Arjen Robben hurt his hamstring today in a blowout friendly just before the team left for South Africa. The Dutch are loaded, but this guy is a star, and it would be a blow if he ends up being scratched from the team.

Looks like both Drogba and Robben may be able to play after all. I hope that's true.

I bought an SI to read on my way back to Vegas from Cancun yesterday. It has profiles of all the US players. Cool thing: There is an LU student on the team. "Clarence Goodson is using his MLS Generation Adidas money to earn a degree in religion from Liberty University." Sweet!

And here we go. I would love nothing more than for Mexico to get embarrassed here.

I knew the vuvuzelas would be annoying but it sounds like a bunch of bees swarming around. I can only imagine how much worse it is in the stadium. One of the articles I read leading up to the start said that ESPN and the other tv companies have worked to use certain microphones to drown out the sound of them.

Well, that was a disappointing result. At least the first goal of the cup was really pretty.

I live along the Mexican border and I'm surrounded by their obnoxious fans and I don't hate on them the way some of you guys do. They are a rival but I have never perceived them as soccer's version of the Great Satan. Am I missing something?

I have covered some of their friendlies the past few years and there has always seemed to be a begrudging respect between the teams & fans ... even when it gets chippy on the pitch.

What showed you that respect? Was it the bottles of pee? Was it the batteries? Was it their refusal to ever give us credit no matter how much we win by?

Whether their fans wanna give us respect or not, their team is downright dirty and cheap shot artists.

I hate Mexican soccer. If they never win another game they would've won too many.

I've never met a US fan that didn't dislike Mexico. They play dirty and they take dives and they play dirty. That's why the 2 teams always scuffle.

I'm not arguing the dislike. But frankly most El Tri fans I know actually only hate the USMNT when they play Los Tricolores. Then again, most of the fans I know live in US that cheer for Mexico.
