a very disappointing end to the regular season. In all likely hood we will have to win the tournament to get into the regionals. The starting pitchign this series was not good at all, so not unless that improves the bats will need to come alive for us to have any shot at winning the tournament championship.

I think you are right. A win today meant a 40-win regular season, and then getting to the conference tournament final might have been enough. Now, finishing the regular season this way, there's still a chance but it will be tough. Big South is No. 11 in RPI, which won't hurt, but no marquee wins. Best, and perhaps only, hope is to get to the final against Coastal. Beating them once would be a major boost toward chances.

I had a bad feeling after the coastal series and it just seemed to snowball. Not many of the guys have shown up since CCU other than Evans and Bream. Our regional hopes are done unless we win the tourney, no question

It was a rough weekend to be sure...Winthrop for some reason has always had LUs number down in Rock Hill though...in 08 we lost two of three and still made it to Championship Saturday. In 06, we lost all three to Winthrop (the same year LU last won 39 games if memory serves me correctly), and we still went on to beat the Eagles twice in the tournament that year. We always get up when it matters so though Im disappointed that we lost the series, Im not worried about how we do next week because of this one weekend

39 wins equals the record established by Coach Royer. No matter how I feel about the leadership..39 wins is impressive and not to be taken lightly. It takes hard work and dedication to accomplish that kind of record. I hope they can find the right chemistry in the tournament and finally beat stinkin Coastal.

I am sure they will be ready to play on Wed. but going to be tough to knock out Coastal especially with an extra day of rest. If we win or lose when would play again?

Hey, guys. Still congrats on the 2nd place finish...........we actually dreamed of 2nd place 5 weeks ago. And, while the series at Winthrop didn't turn out like you all wanted (20 conf. wins, 40 overall), what we went through vs. Presby. was 200,000 times more frustrating/embarrassing.

I hope we can be competitive w/UNCA. Good luck to LU on Wednesday and beyond.
