Flames get the bats going again and lead Manhattan 8-1 in the eighth inning. Shawn Teufel is in line for the win after going 7 strong innings allowing one run on 5 hits and striking out 5

We take the rubber game 8-6 to take the series 2-1. Nice way to end the weekend series vs a very pesky Manhattan team who never quits. Linza gave up 3 bombs today to keep them in the game but JJ McCleode came in and they turned the DP. We seemed to hit the ball pretty well and no one really stood out today. Nice way to make up for that "choke job" from yesterday where we blew a 9-0 lead. On to Virginia Tech!

nice win indeed in front of a nice crowd. the wind was blowing out today for sure. i will say that if the coaching staff continues to throw linza like they did this week, i feel like his arm wont last all season, but the guys responded well after giving the game away saturday.

Why is every baseball game thread mentioning at large bids? That's not happening and isn't going to happen to LU any time soon. Until we win the BSC again and then put together a good season against good teams - that is out of the question.

How is the teams spiritual side these days? I used to hear a lot of stories about baseball witnessing to other teams - don't hear that much anymore. I want to win, but not at all cost...

The general consensus coming into the season was that the Big South had a very legitimate shot at getting two teams in the regionals this year with Liberty and Winthrop being the teams that could get that second spot.

Won't happen. That was 11-2 and we will lose some more this year - even to a great coastal team. I'm not saying the BSC deserves some at large bids, but when is the last time WE got one?

a little... But not for the reasons you think. My point is that Royer got crushed for every little thing on this board and now you get slammed if you say one negative thing on this board about anything. This board use to be so much more fun when you could debate about something, without people saying you are a hater... I love Liberty - I support liberty Financially and by going to all the games I can - but I don't think it is against the rules to have a difference of opinion either. I'm not speaking bad about Liberty - I just want the same accountability to be in place for everyone...

I want to send my children to Liberty one day and I want our school to be different. After all I think a big selling point of Liberty should be that we can be the best at every sport, without selling out our beliefs and standards.

But is still funny that the same people who slammed the baseball schedule 3 years ago are the ones defending it today;)

I didn't know enough when Royer was around. I never got into the debates then because I simply didn't know. I know more now and I'm more connected now so that I can actually speak logically on this stuff. Royer did a very, very good job at Liberty.

Proto - Critical analysis is welcome here and I hope it always will be. As long as it doesn't get personal then you should feel free to express yourself. Was there an overly critical slant by many on the board toward Coach Royer? I think an argument could certainly be made. At the same time, most of us have been supportive of both Coach Royer & Coach Toman. They don't have to be mutually exclusive.
