I got the tip on the Glorious Unseen on this board and I'm now loving them. I am also getting into some of Steve Fee's music. I'm looking for more similar options in this type of music. Suggestions?

Those are pretty much your three best bets, all very good, but it all depends on what style you're looking for. You might check out John Mark McMillan, he wrote "How He Loves", the song that David Crowder Band covered for their latest single. He's more singer/songwriter type, lot of acoustic stuff, but also uses a band.

i think the sloppy wet kiss lyric is awkward, probably because hate sloppy wet kisses, haha

That's the only thing that saved that song. What a terrible line..."Sloppy wet kiss"....really?

The whole point of the style of music for me is being real with God in the praise. So if the guy felt like God's love was like a sloppy wet kiss, then more power to him. I for one found the line very descriptive of the way God has lavished love and grace upon my life. If you want canned, cliche' filled lyrics there is already plenty of that out there. The other thing is I ususally like David Crowder's music to some degree, but to me in that song he sounds as if he's singing from his death bed.

Crowder has an audience, and also the goal of getting that song sung in churches. It's as simple as that. But as a side effect, it gets more people curious about the original artist, so really it works out well for everyone.

Chris Tomlin is starting to become our generations Michael W Smith. I can't stand either of them.

One of the founders of Tooth and Nail left and started a ministry-based label called Come&Live. All of the music on the label is released as "Pay whatever you want - including nothing at all." There's some pretty good stuff there. Ascend the Hill is especially good, IM(ns)HO.

Glorious unseen just did worship at my Dads church a month or two ago, and they had alot of complaints, and my dad hated it because his whole sermon was getting worship off of us and onto God, and praising him, and then their worship was all songs of basically "how I feel when I sing to you" stuff.

Phil Wickham is incredible.

I remember his first appearance at LU (I forget who he was opening for...somebody else may know)...you just knew that he was going to be big someday and that he was so genuine when he sang.

I'm not trying to start anything with you but 2 serious questions...1. what is wrong with writing worship songs about how God makes you feel and 2. if your father has a problem with that kind of worship then shouldn't he have looked into who he was bringing do your church??

just curious, thats all

They're good, but their songs go on waaaaaay too long. It's like their writing process was, "Okay, let's come up with a sentence that sounds holy and worshipful and sing it over and over for two and a half minutes while the tension builds, then we'll go into something else for three minutes."

Maybe it's just me, but isn't that a description of most modern worship music? And before anybody says it............................. guilty as charged. :oldhag

Petra Praise!!!

Seriously, I love Fee. I've seen them live probably 5 times this year though. My music minister's nephew is the drummer. We've had them here at our church, and we do a few Northpoint conferences a year in Atlanta, and they usually do some music for them. GREAT P&W band!
