My not the greatest but we like them anyway team:
Jeff Riber
Tim Layer
Rob Attaway
Glynn Turner
Ryan Mantlo

Ahh Jeff RIber...I remember going to games and hearing people chant for him to get put in and he would bring the crowd to their feet simply by making a basket...he was Kyle Ohman before Kyle Ohman (of course he didnt end up the leading scorer by his senior year and develop unique groups of fans and haters at the same time)

Did you not go to games the year of Rashad Robinson?

You beat me to the punch. Rashad was unbelievable. I held my breath every time he went up for a layup because it was a 50-50 scenario every time.

I had to read that twice...it says Rashad "went up" -- I'm not quite sure Rashad ever left the ground.

These men have been listed here and there throughout this thread, but just for the fun of it,
(or the sadness of it) just think about how close LU came to having these five players on the floor at the same time:

Tee Jay bannister
Dwight Brewington
Anthony Smith
Alex Maclean
B.J. Jenkins

Pretty close to the all 2000's team right there, and definitely would have been a force in the Big South.

Disagree. Brewington was never used right while he was here and was never able to reach his potential.

Brew & the coach had 1 semester to work things out, and I believe it would have worked.
Brew still had great stats, although I don't have them handy right now. Didn't he shoot 70% from the floor?

I wish Brew had gotten the ball on the last play of the tournament game vs VMI. Blair was supposed to be the decoy, but Anthony threw it to him when he was circling somewhere near the ten-second line and he could get no real shot. And regarding Duggar (from an earlier post) he also outcoached his opponent in the semis, & had a very good team & coach down in the finals... which is my way of saying that he is a great coach who also had some great players on the floor himself. (Isn't one of them on espn today???)

Anyway, it's all conjecture, but those I listed were five great players - and maybe that wasn't your point of disagreement at all. - ?

He didn't reach his full potential, but I don't know if it's that he wasn't used right. He said himself that he was deferring to Blair because it was "his team." I think he had planned to do his thing more the following year but that never materialized.

Well, in that regard, I think he agreed to come here on the condition that he would play PG. But then again, it was just another example of RD's fixation on tall PGs.

I don't feel like reading through the whole thread but I have to chime in. I disagree with a lot that was said about Dees. He had a great soph year. In fact He and Blair were 1st team all big south that season. I think most of the best players of the decade were guards so it is really hard to make a "team" but here is my list:

1. Woodson
2. Blair
3. Anthony Smith
4. Gabe Martin
5. Ace McLean

Bench:
chris Caldwell
Seth Curry
TJ Bannister
Dwight Brewington
David Dees
Jesse Sanders
Carl Williams

I did the 1st team by position and then the rest as quality players.

I can't argue with those picks. Notice there are only 3 in the bunch who played here for 4 years (plus Jesse, who no doubt will). 3 of the 5 starters and 8 of the 12 players either transferred in with 2 or less years of eligibility or transferred out after 2 years or less. IMHO this is why we have not been consistently good.

Good point Old Flame.

That is the reason why there are so many good players on the all time list that haven't gotten to 1000 points. The 1000 point club is a great honor and I am happy for and proud of Kyle Ohman for making the list but there are many others that could have been on that list if they had just played more than 2 years.

I would just like to point out that 4 of the 5 that I mentioned "almost" playing together made SCAR's (Liberty Expert) list...

Everyone except B.J. -- (Anthony & Ace on his 1st team, Dwight & TJ on his second). Put those four out there, plus B.J. & see what happens in the B.S. !! (Well, they were picked to contend...)

Haven't read through all the replies, but if you are going to have Seth Curry on your team after only one year then you absolutely have to have David Dees on your team as well. He's probably in your Top 3 of the decade as far as pure talent and was the toughest player yall had during my time to try to stop because he could beat you in so many ways and they didn't have to run a set play for him every time down like they did for other players on the team. Gabe Martin was a great player as well, but Dees > Martin in my opinion.

And what happened to Dees? Did he ever end up doing anything at wherever he transferred? I kind of stopped following him after he left Liberty. What happened to Manceaux as well? Didn't he end up just being a regular student at Alabama or something?
