Fresh off Jeff Barber's Twitter
LUADJeff

Needless to say, I am thrilled Danny Rocco is still our fb coach. He signed a 2 year extension on his contract @ 4:15 today. Go Flames!

So it's a 2 year deal. Does LU disclose details for how much, normally? I assume since we're private that we don't have to, and therefore wouldn't.

I hope we snuck in a monster buyout clause in the fine print. So in 2 years when a BCS school comes courting Jeff Barber can be all like :fineprint

This is absolutely outstanding news! I'm elated that Jeff Barber was able to get this thing done with all the big boys knocking on Rocco's door. Congratulations Jeff Barber and Danny Rocco!!! Would love to keep Danny on board as long as we can. What a blessing he has been to this University. Go Flames!!!!

He told us about the extention on sunday, while we were up there on an official visit. Figured i better not say anything. Even though it means very little now a days, it sounded pretty positive to us.

Chris, again, your work is appreciated by those of us that don't live in the 245 area. It's nice to have someone with contacts that sources their posts for FF.

No.

Yes and no. Yes they're private so they don't have to unless an employee is a key executive or one of the top five highest paid. Then it is public record.

As a 501(c)(3) organization LU has to file Form 990 with the IRS which is public record. The 990 forms include pay for key executives and the top five employee salaries, as well as balance sheets, top paid contractors, etc.

The latest available 990 form for LU is the 2008 form, which contains data for the year 2007. It is available here: http://www.guidestar.org/FinDocuments/2008/540/946/2008-540946734-050f7179-9.pdf

As you can see from the form Rocco is in the top five list so his pay is listed. Since we know he didn't negotiate for a raise based on the reporters article we can assume his total pay is at least still at $248,697 which would make the two year extension worth a minimum of $497,394. That's assuming there has been no other undisclosed raises or compensation negotiated since 2007.

SIGMO- glad to hear you and your son are still on board, congrats.

also, I'm thrilled Coach is staying around but have to admit- was hoping for more than a 2 yr extension. That tells me "medium term" more than "long term", but I'm NOT COMPLAINING!

The fact that there is no increase tells me that this is more than likely a temporary arrangement to provide some added security and end some of the distractions, but not a finished product. Does anyone think for a minute that if we make a playoff run in the next couple of years he won't get a brand new deal for substantially more money?

McKay was making more than anyone else here, it's just that most of it was still coming from New Mexico. Pretty sure his contract there was for $600,000, and they subtracted what we paid him from that. Pretty safe to say that if he were still around he would get a new deal for a competetive rate when the NM $$ dried up.
