[Hold My Own]

I just wanted to make a poll about LU's biggest rival. I know it's been done before but these things have a tendency to change and I wanted to see where we are at now. This is not just for basketball but factor in all the other sports as well. Yes, some sports have different rivals...but I want to know that one team.

I don't even know. Nobody cares about Radford in that way anymore. Our rivalry with Coastal is purely fabricated because they were so good at football so fast. Although they do have one of the only other active messageboards, so that helps from our perspective (you don't want to lose or you'll hear about it) and the rest of their sports are pretty decent. It's always nice to beat Winthrop and they've been a little closer to our level the last few years but come on, not a rival. I guess it's VMI by default. They're close, they travel well and they're total dbags while they're here.

Yes, I did it because I know how many straight laced people we have around here and the shear joy of me knowing they are saying "I'd vote for Radford, but I'm not sure who this Radfurd team is, so I'll pick someone else"



I live in the past so I guess my vote is still Radfurd, however I think it's VMI....there is some bad blood in that rivalry and I cant say I have ever felt like that about CC...b/c when they were good, we really werent and now we are and they arent (football wise)

Honestly, we really don't have any true rivals right now. But VMI fits the bill the closest overall. Even with the Highlanders returning to a decent hoops program there just doesn't seem to be electricity around our rivalry that existed 5-10 years ago. The thrill is gone. The Institute comes closest these days on a sport-by-sport basis. Coastal would be the #2 IMHO simply because our games always seem to mean something and we have had some great matchups in recent years to add some sizzle to the relationship.

I voted for VMI...kinda by default.. But still they're in-state, fairly competitive in most sports, and man did their fans get on my nerves when I ended up having to sit next to them during that beat down in the vines last year lol

I retain enough.......................... dare I say............... HATRED for Radfurd going back to the old days that they are still our rival to me. Also, although I love football, I have always followed basketball at LU more fanatically and Radfurd looks like it is the program we need to jump over to get where we want to go in MBB. I have to say that it was easier to hate Bradley than it is Greenburg. He's doing a good job there. I'm hoping maybe someone will snatch him away soon.

from an outside perspective, I'd say that overall it's still Radford

although, I can definitley understand the VMI answers
