There are definitely places that have good AT&T coverage. I spend a lot of time in the Triangle area of North Carolina and it's fantastic there. I'm sure there are places where it's good.

Lynchburg just isn't one of those places.

On the other hand, I hear AT&T's 3G service will finally be turned up for The 'burg by the end of March. Here's hoping there's better coverage when that happens. I'm not holding my breath.

I'm also hoping Verizon and Apple can get it together on pricing by Summer...

I hear the tablet is going to support multiple carriers out of the gate. That's more like it.

The maps speak for themselves...I suppose you Rubber are in the minority of the blue dots and lucky enough to have hit on one

PS I'm saying Q3 for the CDMA Iphone...

...AT&T would have let these problems continue in NYC if they still had a shot at exclusivity with the Iphone...they dont so they said "screw you" to Apple and let them miss out on one of the top 2 markets in America

no way....at&t sucks straws around here...3g coverage is terrible, and the edge network completely cripples a smart phone here.

verizon absolutely pimpslaps att here.

to get the best reception with your iphone here, you need to have icontact with a tower....(HYUCK HYUCK)

The articles I've read say Summer 2010 IF Apple and Verizon can agree on the subsidized pricing. Apparently it's a sticking point and both sides feel like they can walk away from the table. I don't think Apple can but Steve Jobs has a huge set and is a little bit crazy.

They're still selling iPhones in NYC. Whatever the problem was, it lasted less than 48 hours. I'm pretty sure Apple's current exclusivity contract with AT&T would keep AT&T from saying "screw you" to them right now. That'd be a quick and easy lawsuit.

I'm with you on the other points, but not this one. So. I have three questions.

1. Where do you live?

2. Where do you spend most of your time?

3. Do you travel often? If yes, where to?

Dead serious. I really want to know.
I did live on garfield ave, then I moved to a suburb of st. louis a few weeks ago. Im not just talking 3g service, i didnt have that in lynchburg, I mean in terms of calling people. Had horrible reception with sprint and verizon.

Everywhere I travel to is a major market (Boston, Chicago, St. louis, Seattle) so they all have great 3G networks

We're happy with AT&T so far but we are lucky enough to live in an area with good coverage. We live in the Triad area of NC and really only travel to the Triangle area and occasionally to DC so we'll probably never have too many complaints.

I love ATT in southern GA. The map on the commercials shows no 3G coverage here for ATT, but I'm sitting pretty with my 3G coverage (I'm about 50 miles south of ATL)

Everyone is a BIG Verizon fan down here, but the IPhone has made several of my friends jump to ATT from Verizon.

Boy will your friends be disappointed when they can get iPhones through Verizon soon.

For the record, back when I was travelling heavily a year or so ago, I would often times be the only person on my team with phone signal much less data services at many of the places I would travel with our nuclear clients. The only place I have ever been where AT&T's signal was strong and I had none was a remote section of the Texas Hill Country where AT&T had placed a stick. Suffice it to say that those maps are not only a convincing argument but accurate as well.

Continuing the theme, AT&T is stupid.

A Georgia mother and her two daughters logged onto Facebook from mobile phones last weekend and wound up in a startling place: strangers' accounts with full access to troves of private information.

The glitch—the result of a routing problem at the family's wireless carrier, AT&T—revealed a little known security flaw with far reaching implications for everyone on the Internet, not just Facebook use.

AT&T spokesman Michael Coe said its wireless customers have landed in the wrong Facebook pages in "a limited number of instances" and that a network problem behind those episodes is being fixed.
