I would rather have a little more time to learn my 4wd but if it does snow this weekend I'll have to learn on the fly

it doesnt snow enough here to need it. People, the only accidents caused here are because people freak out about a half inch. Drive reasonably and you wont have a problem. If your going to be going up hill, you need momentum, otherwise you will slide backwards. Give yourself extra time to slow down/stop, dont follow people too close, dont go flying around corners.

I live off of fort ave at the bottom of two hills. I tried to get my mailbu and my wife's alero out last year only to slid after going up each hill 15 ft. Thus we bought an equinox with our tax money.

We had lows in the 30s down here in Tampa on Saturday night, right after it had snowed up there. I checked Weatherbug before going to bed that night and noticed that the forecast low for Tampa was only 7 degrees higher than the forecast low in Forest.

The only accumulation map I've seen was one of the whole country so it was tough to make out exactly where Lynchburg was but it looked like it was in the 3-6 inch zone, right outside of the 6-12. That's within the next 48 hours. And this isn't that from the west garbage that gets pushed north of us every time. This is coming from the south. To quote Bad Boys, "**** just got real".

I've got an early Saturday morning drive from Lynchburg to Dayton, right through the middle of this stuff. It seems like our drives through West Virginia are always like this in the winter, not fun.

Friday afternoon, snow will begin in our area. The first flakes will be falling in the New River Valley and Southside in the early afternoon Friday, with the snow traveling northward. Snow should arrive in Lynchburg before sundown. Snow will continue through the night Friday into Saturday and could be heavy at times. The center of the surface low will be near Cape Hatteras, North Carolina by early Saturday morning. This orientation will feed abundant moisture from the Atlantic into our area.

If temperatures were warmer, we would forecast 2-3" of rain. However, with cold temperatures in place, that translates to a whopper of a snowstorm. It is reasonable to expect in the neighborhood of a foot of snow across the area, with some locally higher totals possible. Snow will end Saturday evening. We will continue to monitor the development of this storm until it has cleared our area.

I have a Christmas gathering on Saturday in Richmond with the inlaws that I really don't want to go to. I'll have to put my "oh darn" game face on.
