Anyone else reading this thinking this is just some regular poster with a new username, just jerking our chain for kicks & giggles?!

Whoever they are, they allowed me to stop studying for a final for a few minutes, so I thank them for that.

Really? You want to check that? I don't agree with "dramatic."

Come on. Nobody is acting self righteous, all knowing or liberty sports geniuses. The football forum alone has almost 61,000 posts on over 2000 topics. Sure many of them are us acting like idiots but there is a lot of knowledge displayed. Some of which comes directly from staff. Yes we gave you a ribbing, but if you had just taken it (because you were pretty wrong) and moved on, you'd have a lot more fun. And you'd be more knowledgeable about the program. Which I'm sure you'd like to be if you're a fan.

Yeah, it's amazing how good you get when you don't have to play a Big East basketball schedule.

You guys are funny. If you think BSC life is good. Enjoy. But contrary to what you would believe I suspect your former basketball coach realized what he was in for and bailed for an asst coaching position on a bad Virginia team. There's a reason why the best freshman basketball player in the country left for a notable basketball school and conference. If you think life is good in the BSC hang out in that tunnel. It will look better from there!

I could say I was from The Road You Live On in Kennesaw, GA and you wouldn't have a way of knowing if that's true or not because you can't trace the IPs. Only the moderators could find out for sure.

Here's what you don't realize - we, the fans, aren't happy that we had to take the chick from the math team to the prom. We would've much rather taken the hot cheerleader. The thing is, the chick from the math team is who said yes, and right now, the cheerleader already has a date. Until there's a chance for us to get a date with the cheerleader, we've got to make due with the chick from the math team as best as possible. At least next year she gets contacts and the braces come off.

Trying to find something in this particular post that hasn't been said here numerous times by numerous posters. You really haven't a clue, have you?

Suggestion: Hang out and read the board for a while before you post something like this. You'd quickly realize exactly why people aren't cutting you any slack at all. Even a cursory review of the board would show you that we actually agree with you, but that right now there's not much that can be done. Do you really think that Liberty can join the CAA just by filling out an application??! Guess what -- we've been there, done that, and had the application returned marked "Not Interested." SoCon? Also not interested. What would you suggest, oh great and wise JCrew? We are listening to your words of wisdom with baited breath and eager anticipation.

I think you all missed the point of the original post. Also, to jump on a new poster shows a complete lack of maturity. Nice going. It's good to have some new blood on the board. Hang in there JCREW. Don't let these people get to you.

The point of the original post was that Liberty football would never get into the playoffs unless they left the Big South. This is a demonstrably false assessment, as the Big South is getting an autobid next season, so the Big South Champion will, in fact, be getting into the playoffs.

While it's good to have new blood on the board, said new blood needs to 1) grow a tougher skin if they're going to play on message boards (they were given a friendly reaction compared to some boards I've been on), and 2) make sure the facts are correct before posting. Another good idea might be to 3) not fly off the handle when obvious errors are brought to your attention, and actually admit errors when they are present.

If you were to go to the General Sports forum, which is the forum that things like this are discussed, you would find a thread entitled Big South started back in March. It's the most recent "OMG!!1! We need out of the Big South!!1 lolz" thread. In it, everyone agreed on three things:

1) We would like to see us move up and that was the original vision of our founder.
2) Right now, there are no viable options of anywhere to go.
3) Right now, we must make due with what we have and attempt to make the Big South the best possible league it can be.

Our athletic director has been quoted saying something along the lines of, "We're trying to make Liberty Athletics the best possible program that it can be." He has said that he has goals of our program being a top 25 athletic program.

I think the point is that the Big South is weak. How many years do we have to wait until we start playing with the big boys all the time? If you all are happy winning the worst conference year after year that's great for you. I want bigger and better sooner than later! Ask C W how much patience the catholics had with his program.

Yeh, go check it. I do mean dramatic. Tech basketball was an afterthought before going to the ACC and football was nowhere near the same level. They did not get the same kind of recruits that they have gotten the past several years prior to the ACC. Simple facts, just check VT's basketball records prior to the ACC and since joining the ACC, including tournament appearances. Football, they have virtually dominated a BCS conference and gone to a BCS bowl or conference championship game every year. Once again, go back and look at what they did before and outside of the Sugar Bowl against FSU you will be shocked (you'll see a lot of music city bowls smaller). I dont really care because I can't stand tech, but your kidding yourself if you dont think moving to a better conference improves recruiting (in techs instance especially). It's def. given them a big leg up on uva in football and basketball.

How many times does it have to be pointed out that the Big South was not anywhere near the worst conference this year, and hasn't been for the past few years?

This year the Big South was rated higher than two leagues with an auto-bid. We were actually in the top half of all the leagues in the country. Instead of keeping stereotypes from four years ago in your head, it's important to look at the changing landscape (shout out to panfan) and the improvement of this league.

Thanks so MUCH for pointing that out. SCREW YOU! How's that SMART jerk.
I addressed my comment to you personally. I was not that harsh, just pointing out the obvious. Shouldn't have said what I did, and I apologized. C'mon now. It's alright to get under each others skin when voicing our opinions and make other people irritated, but really?
If you didn't get my message, check your (1 new message) next to the User Control Panel under the Board index. Enjoy the rest of your time on the board.

Thats interesting. I could have sworn they were upset about it. I looked up why they were upset. These teams got in.

Texas St - 8-4 - Automatic
Eastern Kentucky - 8-3 - Automatic
MAINE - 8-4
Liberty 10 -2

I realize two of these are automatics but Maine? They lost 4 games to 4 teams that couldn't possibly have been better than the 2 Liberty lost too. It would appear on the surface that there conference didn't do them any favors and yes they didn't do themselves any favors either.
So you really do have absolutely no idea how the playoffs work, or how debating works. Maine's 4 losses were to top of the line CAA teams, all but one of which were in the playoffs if I remember correctly. We lost to two non-playoff teams, one of which was... wait for it..

PRESBYTERIAN.

And we were really only 8-2, because we beat two DII's. And both our losses were bad.

And you can't compare us to stinkin' auto-bids, that proves that you don't have anything to back up your argument and you're grasping for straws. We were better than the OVC autobid this year, but that doesn't mean we can argue that we should be in ahead of them. That's why the prefix "auto" is on bid.

So, we proved we should be playing with the big boys by being pushed around by the 6th best CAA team this year at home, right? We proved it by losing to Lafayette last year, right?

Come on man. We lost to Stony Brook. If we should be out of the Big South, where should SBU be? The Big East?

And as SJ already said, we're in a middle of the road conference and it's getting better. But we're not ready to, as you said, "play the big boys all the time." I think I'll trust our program to people who understand how college football works, rather than the opinions of fans who just want to see (ACC) or something next to our name ASAP because they think that amounts to a hill of beans in terms of where this program is going. I can't even imagine what's going to happen when we get into a different conference and manage to win. What if we get into the CAA and blowout Towson in the first game. Will the "When will we join the SEC?" threads begin?

Boise State does just fine. TCU Utah and BYU do just fine. Cal Poly does just fine. Frankly, we're doing just fine. People either want to come here or they don't. If a kid is an LU kid, or if he gets on campus and gets to be a part of what we have going on here, we could be DIII for all I care, we're gonna get good athletes. Show me recruits we lost to "big-time" schools and I can show you ones we've stolen from "big-time" schools. Chris Summers would have never gone to G-W. Mike Brown wouldn't go to Chuck South. Rashad wouldn't have transferred to Coastal. We're a cut about the Big South in terms of the commitment to football and our unique environment, and I'd say we're doing just fine. Watch the transfers roll in this winter and get back to me on what we're
"missing out on". Would J'Courtney go to Presby? Stony Brook? I thought so...

We have this conversation on here all the time, but I do think we miss out on some recruits because of the Big South. Granted we're still able to recruit better than most, if not all, of the other conference schools. But there are guys that wouldn't seriously consider us if they are also being courted by the JMUs, Richmonds, App State's, etc. of the world. Just go back and look at what Justin Thorpe said about us prior to the JMU game, and he's from Richmond, VA.
