One of the major WV fishwraps doing as rundown of possible Marshall candidates ...
Charleston (WV) Gazette wrote:Ditto Mickey Matthews, Donnan's defensive coordinator in Huntington and current James Madison coach.

Keep your eye on Danny Rocco, the head coach at Liberty University. Rocco has a wealth of experience via stints at Wake Forest, Colorado, Tulsa, Boston College, Texas, Maryland, Virginia and the NFL's New York Jets.

Thanks for the link, Sly (I haven't had this many mixed emotions since Marshall played Ole Miss in a bowl game a few years ago).

Had to show off the language skills of Liberty Student news. Found this from a link on Twitter this morning:

http://www.libertystudentnews.com/
Danny Rocco has been mentioned in the rumor mill to become Marshall University’s new football coach. The search party has begun and he’s been mentioned among with other coaches like the Bowden brothers to name a few.

Rocco has brung success to Liberty Football bringing three Big South Championships since 2006. Should he stick around or get promoted? You can read what Marshall is searching for here.

I find that most of the time if a rumor is mentioned somewhere after we've already mentioned it, flamefans is their source.

Ranking the top five candidates for the Virginia head coach job, which is open after Al Groh's firing:

1. Cincinnati's Brian Kelly: Has a high price tag, and likely higher aspirations (See: Notre Dame)

2. Connecticut's Randy Edsall: "In the past, you haven't gone to Connecticut looking for first-round and second-round talent, and now you do." -- New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick.

3. Houston's Kevin Sumlin: Innovative offensive coach formerly an assistant at Oklahoma.

4. Boise State's Chris Peterson - Is Virginia a better spot than Idaho?

5. Liberty's Danny Rocco: Former UVa. assistant has turned the Flames into an FCS power. A potential Dabo Swinney-like coaching value.

Kelly & Sumlin have both just negotiated contract extensions that makes it tough for them to be bought out. That's not a big deal to be overcome in South Bend ... it is a big deal in Charlottesville. Edsall supposedly is interviewing at Notre Dame but he would be a great hire for the Wahoos.
Coaching changes

It appears your intel was on the mark.
