Exactly, Kyle ohman is not the future of LU basketball. Its time to get others in the game and rebuild for next year.

I am not prepared to say take him out for the season. I was thinking more this game. He was pressing and taking stupid shots. If we take him out someone else will HAVE to shoot and it's not like we are coming back...

Do you think kyle ohman is going to stop taking stupid shots in future games? Thats yet to be determine, but i doubt he does. Im just saying give are young talented players more minutes and let them learn and develop.

A couple of interesting questions now are:
1. How bad is TB's injury ?
2. Do we take the shirt off Vander Pol or press on?
3. How many big men are on our recruiting list for the next few years? (we are going to have to let a few guards go and replace them with some size. Not sure who but it will be a must)

Either guys are just not listening to coach or he is not explaining things well but our half court offense is non-existent. We don't have the talent to take guys off the dribble so we need to run some sort of team offense.

I thought Gordan and Konan took steps forward tonight and Bill Weaver deserves a few more minutes to see what he can do. He is one of the few who doesn't look lost out there.

Yeah, this is pretty depressing right now. The vines center is going to be even more empty than it already is after a few more performances like this. Obviously, I will still go to all the games I can, but this is just hard to watch. It seems that all that stress on defense in the preseason hasn't really paid off that much, and in the meantime the team completely forgot how to play any sort of halfcourt offense. Beatings like this has got to take a toll on the team. Hopefully though, our boys will rebound in time to make a decent finish in conference play. But right now.... :brownbag

So, I'm pretty sure I know why BeTray got out of Dodge. I really cannot think of one thing that this team does well. Can't shoot. Can't defend. Can't rebound. Can't run any kind of offense. I just have trouble seeing any bright spots. We know Jesse is a good PG, but that's not helpful unless somebody else can make a basket. McMasters is a pretty good post defender, but that's only slightly helpful when nobody else can rebound. This is just an awful awful team. Our worst in many years. I'm sure some of these players have potential but I certainly don't see it against the likes of Clemson, ODU, and most likely Notre Dame. I'm practically moving on to next season in my head. The only reason I haven't comitted is because the BSC looks pretty awful all around so maybe conference play will be a little more fun. And promising.

Also, I'm pretty sure that's the end of Tyler Baker's career. I feel real bad for the kid. Looked like a broken foot to me. He looked devastated on the sideline.

As our founder was wont to say "The measure of a man (or a fan) is what it takes to discourage him" Things are not looking too bright right now, especially if Tyler's injury is serious, but teams certainly have been known to improve dramatically over the course of a season. Remember that last year Radford started out 3-8, and did not win a D1 non conference game.

Im actually gonna agree with LUconn here...this team is bad...very bad...if I was a coach and I saw the kind of stuff I saw tonight Id be benching people left and right because many things were just plain inexcusable. Im stickin with this team because Im an LU fan first but there needs to be some fires lit somewhere...and you want to know why Kyle takes so many bad shots? because nobody else is taking ANY shots? I mean I could count the number of times somebody had the ball and was open but didnt take it. I was talking to TBGBG after the game and personally I would expect no less than 50 three point attempts from my starters a game...and everybody shoots. If you cant shoot (or wont shoot) theyre gonna get out after you on teh perimeter because they just plain don't respect you. Not to mention...SOMEBODY FOLOW YOUR SHOT FOR CRYIN OUT LOUD! What is up with shooting and just conceding the rebound...I mean golly day just say here take the ball and do what you want with it...

Alright, this might be long winded, but here we go...

I won't talk about the negatives, unless they are a part of a positive... here we go...

1. Evan Gordon, once his ability catches up with his attitude and his mindset, he's going to be a stud for us. Evan has the heart and the winners mentality. He's just not there physically, yet.

2. Patrick Konan is awesome. He's very raw right now, needs to polish the game up, but he has all the potential in the world to be a good-great player for us. Long, athletic, nose for the ball.

3. Bill Weaver is earning himself minutes that he couldn't earn with a past coach. I hope to see him get about 10 a game, I think he deserves at least that.

4. Jesse is off his game, but he's still out there working hard. You gotta give it to the kid, he doesn't stop.

5. Carter, when his head is in the game, is a weapon. Carter just needs to get into the flow of the game, something he hasn't been able to do in the 4 NCAA games he's played so far. He looks lost sometimes, and that's fine, he's young, but when he's in the game, I like what I see.

6. Tyler Baker is the man. I hope like crazy that kid works his way back for some minutes in Big South play. He earned a starting spot, it wasn't given to him, that kid works hard.

That's about it I guess. I can see a lot of good in this team, just not "good enough to win 20+ games" good. We're not a bad team, tho, and I think we'll be satisfied with how we do in conference. Not happy, just satisfied. The future, however, is bright. And no amount of negativity on here will take that from me. This team is going places, and those places are higher than where we are now. Much higher.

We can cry about some things, but we shut down Lee. We played SOME good defense, and honestly, that's something I respect and enjoy about this team. We had SOME good offensive sets, and that's a bright spot. We made mistakes, we screwed up a lot. That happens with young teams going through a transition. However, don't act like we're supposed to be the CI.com Tourney team we were last year. Take the team for what it is.

We'll finish 4-6 in the Big South, lose in the tourney, and look forward to next year. Remember, we were within 4 of Mason. ODU and Clemson are on another level, and we couldn't click on offense. It's not the end of the world.

Hah, I dunno man. I was upset at the game a few times, but I think I've just learned to tone down the expectations. :P I mean, I don't like losing, but it is what it is.

I'm trying not to be too upset at our defense, because ODU is elite. We even played good defense for a little while. But nothing is happening on offense. There's some dribbling and some passing but none of it is doing anything but draining the shot clock (and resulting in some turnovers). They just all look like they're waiting for someone else to do something. And then Ohman will take some rushed shot or drive and get blocked.

a. A dribbler shall not (1) charge into an opponent who has established a legal guarding position, or (2) attempt to dribble between two opponents, or (3) attempt to dribble between an opponent and a boundary, where sufficient space is not avail-able for illegal contact to be avoided.
b. If a defender is able to establish a legal position in the straight line path of the dribbler, the dribbler must avoid contact by changing direction or ending his dribble.
c. The dribbler must be in control of his body at all times. If illegal contact occurs, the responsibility is on the dribbler.
Just wanted to post that in case anyone needed to read it.

We have too many people going away from the basket, and not enough going towards it. However, it's not that simple to fix. Just need to give them time to figure out what works.

If it's MCL, we might see him back. ACL, and I'm going to cry. Of course depends if it's strained, torn, etc. But I think this kid can fight back from an MCL sprain... anything worse and.... I dunno.

Interesting. Good for him, sorta. I thought for sure it was his foot. I was gonna start demanding a floor replacement.

I thought foot when he twisted, but then he grabbed his knee, and stood on his foot. We all assumed ACL tear until he walked back onto the floor in the cast/splint thing, but now it's all uncertain.
