If we could clone Ace about 10 times and spread him out over the next 15 years, that would be great.

Former player BJ Jenkins
Former coach Randy Dunton

One chose to leave the program, one didn't.

Pick a player or coach from the early 90's:
Juice
Aluma
Hildo

I will also take the fan base and the creativity of them. Anyone else remember the "Dot Man?" (looked somewhat like the hamburgler to me).

The best thing about those years is that the program had stability and Coach Meyer had started to string strong recruiting classes together so we had talent, depth, and experience. The fans turned out because they believed we were a program on the rise, players developed and got better every year, and those teams played with passion and poise.

I think Coach Layer will end up being the best coach LU has ever had and given some time our play will improve, our depth, talent and experience will improve and fans will return in high #'s. The Vines is a tough place to play when the fans show up and are into it. I can't wait to see our program back to where it was. We have not had program stability since the late 90's.

You beat me to the reference to the Meyer era ALAFlamesFan. There are a lot of us :oldhag who miss those times. The reality is though that no matter how much I believe that in a perfect world, Jeff Meyer would be now in his 29th year at the helm, he's not. We had RD (twice), we had Hanky and we had RMK. Now we have Dale Layer, and I really think he has a chance to bring the stability back if we support him and stop the silly nostalgic wishful thinking.

Yes that was my point. Regardless of how you feel about coaches personally (I realize that is a hot topic here) the fact is that some stability will do wonders for our program. IMO we have never Fully recovered the promise our program was showing back in those days. I think Layer is the right guy to get us back there and take us beyond. I will be happy to wait a season or two to get back on top of the conference so long as we see a plan and progress. I am particularly pleased with the potential players who have verbaled and will celebrate their signings when those happen.

WOW! That was great footage of SCAR. The man had game. I thought that there was only "one" dunk, but it seems like there were several. Great Job SCAR. I still think I could have beaten you in '67. Were you born then?

(The B-ball history of LU is there for the viewing in the seasonal records & standings... & JB so far has brought no improvement whatsoever when measured in this way, despite whatever spin is put out.) I believe Coach Layer will help.
