at the meeting last night Jr. was explaining the financial statements and said that since the real estate market had dried up that the old TRBC/LCA Campus did not have many suitors for it. He also said that LU would be moving one of its schools over there, but he could not announce it at this point. any insiders heard anything else??

it would make sense to move the seminary over there, since they were planning on building them a new building or whatever. But something like education or even nursing seems to make more sense.

This is far from a done deal. But yes, there is some discussion of the seminary moving over there. But frankly there is STRONG resistance to moving off the mountain. It is far from decided.

TRBC's finances definitely need serious prayer.

I can't imagine Caner letting that happen without raising a stink. I think the Seminary is in the perfect place.

However, if TRBC is in trouble--how much longer before LU is the same boat?

Doc's insurance money covered LU, not TRBC.

flamerbob is correct. TRBC didn't benefit from the policy and it doesn't benefit from major national benefactors.

And TDDance234, very keen observation.

great.

just when we thought it was safe to stop worrying about LU's finances.

I know this borders on heresy, but I wish the school could seperate from the church.

I think its a mindset or something: Bigger = Better

then again, I'm not down there, nor am I intimately aware of the inner workings of the organization, so I'll shut up now.

I actually asked Jerry about the old LCA during the basketball game today. I had someone interested in leasing the property but Jerry mentioned that LU will be occupying it here soon.

As far as finances go. LU is very very solid during these economic times, mainly because of some wise leadership and knowing when to pull out of this market.

Speaking in complete ingorance and out of turn, I wonder if they wish they could get the money back from those giant props.

Moving the seminary to Thomas Rd would be an utter disaster. Undergrad would lose some of their professors and the seminary would lose some of theirs. It wouldn't work.

LU is in no financial trouble. We are in the best financial shape we have ever been in. I am not familiar with TRBC's finances, but they are separate and LU is just fine.

seeing how they laid people off recently? Yeh, I think there are some that would rather not see the props and people keep their jobs. You cant tell me they havent spent 10-20k on props total.

I would estimate in the $80-$95 k range. The Christmas tree has to cost them in the $200k range and maybe more.
