This was the title of an article written by our friend Chris Lang. No, it's not a reference to JE, but instead to Jim Duffie. The 73-year-old Duffie had been the public address announcer for LU football games since 1982 and will have the new control room named in his honor.

(Since at least 3 of you have experience in that area, I'm wondering if any FF members will be submitting resume's for his position). :typing

I guess that shouldn't be a surprise. If this was something planned they have probably had the replacement lined up for a while now. I know you can't break news here SJ, but can you say whether it is someone already on the AD staff?

It's not someone on staff. Come to the women's basketball game on Friday night and you'll get to hear the new guy.

Has he done WBB before?

Super with BREAKING NEWS. :clapping
Will he be doing the MBB games, too?

Wait, crap, I could be wrong. I know he's doing men's basketball. He might be doing women's. I don't know for sure.

oldflame, you may be thinking of the guy that did women's basketball back a few years ago. He was the same guy that did the JMU game in football this year.

Here is the article:
When Jim Duffie began his run announcing Liberty football games, the school was still bussing students from campus to City Stadium on Saturday afternoons. Plenty has changed since then. The Flames moved to Division I. The school built an on-campus stadium.

And after LCA’s season ends, the press box in which Duffie has announced from for the last 20 years will be destroyed to make way for a new, multi-level press box.

Though just a few paragraphs, very well done, Chris. I really appreciate the kind words and reflection upon his years in the booth.

Most would admit, as he did, that it was a good time for him to hang it up. Despite the need for change, he will be sorely missed, and always remembered.

Thanks, Jim - for everything!

I think that Jim did a great job in his capacity as LU's PA anouncer. His voice really stood out as being very unique and that is one of the things I looked forward to when I come down for the football games. Happy retirement Jim!

I will say I enjoyed hearing him the last few years...my personal highlight actually will be Senior Day last year when he read teh band seniors at Pregame and he read me as "field commander" instead of "field crew" (read: band manager). I had a nice chuckle heading into the stands as I thought about my "promotion"
