Seems like possibly 3 days of missed classes = too much.
With a Saturday/Monday swing, players only miss M/F classes. So, players can schedule classes primarily on Tue/Thur, and miss a LOT less class.
All this to say I'm not a fan of the Thur/Sat swing.
I agree but I think what needs to be seen is how much would you rather have attendance over participation. Most teams would leave monday early and practice that night on the road or for the closer games leave very early tuesday and shoot around. After the game heading back to be back for class on wed, but due to the weather during basketball season and travel times not getting back until very late. So MOST of the players will be in class but worthless because of how tired they are. Im not taking shots, Im just saying most people are when going on 2 hours of sleep. So they were possibly missing class monday, def missing class tuesday and in class but might as well not be in class on wed.
Tues/sat- Missing 1 maybe 2 days of classes and worthless wed
Thurs/Sat- Missing Maybe Wed and Def thurs and wither missing class friday or worthless friday.
I think its Pretty much the same thing. Not trying to argue, Im just saying. On top of that, I would say the only thing I dont like is the restriction of preparation for all the teams. Tues/Sat gives you 3 days to prepare for both teams that week , and Thurs/Sat gives you 4 days where a team could prepare for both, but you usually want to get 1 team behind you before going after another mentally and it really only gives you friday to prepare, if that. I can agree that as far as class schedule goes Sat/Monday would be the best, but from a preparation stand point it still kind of sucks and playing monday games also puts us in a race for good officials that we cant win haha. Academically I think Thurs/Sat works a little better for the players because it gives them the majority of the week to work on school work and any days they might have off practice would be Sunday and Monday to complete their school work.
Ok Im done.
