With the crowd that was left in the second half, I must say that I was very impressed with their spirit and noise! How much noise could come out of that small group is beyond me but they were fun to watch from the opposite end and it looked like they were having a great time!!! KUDOS to the band too!!! I don't like rain and I just wish it would stop raining or I'm calling this the "soggy season". :rainy
OK, I'll stop whining Crybaby before someone calls the wahhhhmbulance!!! :medic

The more I think about it, the more I am convinced that if you were to check with the people who left early, the vast majority simply weren't expecting rain and didn't come prepared. It's one thing to sit in the rain with the proper gear and another to have nothing but a light jacket on (if that) and be soaked. If this is true, it's something that can be addressed by pounding it into everyone's head to check the weather reports and if there is any chance of rain at all, come prepared for the worst.

I also still believe that, prepared or not, a LOT of those who left (myself included) would have stayed if the outcome of the game were in doubt.

excellent game by the guys. this is what we should do to weaker opponents. the crowd exodus was disappointing as the stduents filed out quicker than the baptist side, but it is what it is. it happens at other schools too. we are still building something special and it will take time. im not worried about this at all, and many should not get so worked up about it. if this game was close im sure the fans would have stayed. let's hope for a great crowd for VMI next saturday night.

I think the fan issue was raised because of when everyone left. I don't think anyone raises a stink if the entire stadium exits before the fourth quarter. That happens everywhere. I've never seen a place empty two minutes before halftime like it did yesterday. It was alarming.

I believe the fact that the game was televised locally played into the timing of the departures. I know it did for me. I figured if I leave at half time I could get home in time to see all or most of the second half dry and warm at home..........which I did.

wasnt there because of church responsibilities, but I also am not surprised to think most people would leave before half time if it was drizzling, and already a game in hand, I could care less about sitting through halftime in the rain.

Had I been able to go, I would have stayed the entire time, of the games I make it to, I stay the entire time every time. But I also know my fiancee would have left before half time because she likes cheering for the team no mtter what the score, but she also prefers to be dry, as do most people not prepared for rain. I think the fans are getting better, but I also think yesterdays game was a little different.

Too many things were in place to give students the desire to leave, we were blowing them out, rain was falling (doesnt care how intense, your still getting wet), and it was halloween. Had it been Oct. 30th, or Nov. 1st and those same consequences, more people would have stayed most likely. So I dont think its something to get so bent out of shape for

Did the stadium crew have any free LU ponchos for the fans? I didn't see any on the Baptist side.
FYI--the game is being broadcast from 1:00-4:00 today on MASN.

Besides the obvious, the rain and a horrible Presby team,

I think that the Athletic Department needs to be consider the following:

1. Reasonably raise the ticket price to where people, especially on the Baptist side feel its worth while to go to a game they paid for (if their season ticket holders) or that it is worthwhile to stay at least till the game is into the 4th. At the current ticket prices, it is to easy to say "will eat the tickets" and stay home and watch the game on TV.

2. The second item is the AD department needs to be careful on the start time for games. The mid-afternoon time slot works well on homecoming...other dates is debatable. A night game, I don't care at what level will pull better than a mid-afternoon game, even if it does conflict with Halloween!!

TV has a lot to do with that.

Night games are great for the locals, but for those of us that have to travel 2+ hours it's more difficult. For me, 3:30 is perfect.

Well.

Check it Monday - Sunny
Check it Tuesday - Sunny
Check it Wednesday - Sunny
Check it Thursday - Sunny
Check it Friday before noon - Sunny
Check it Friday after noon - 30% showers

This isn't something to belittle the fan base over. Sometimes people get caught off guard and/or dont want to sit around for a 40 point blowout during the rain. I don't blame them.

And it's not an issue until it becomes a habit. This is ONE game.

But there has to be an issue! We couldn't possibly talk about the fact that SirChauncey was a beast and Tommy had his best game as a Flame...

Having checked the weather and saw that it had a few showers predicted, I brought the same rain jacket I used at the JMU game. When it started, I simply put it on and kept enjoying the game. What I saw next was embarrassing as a fan.

The mass exodus was unexplainable to me. It had to have been embarrassing to the team. The game was televised as are all home games and to see the replay today on MASN with an almost empty stadium looked really bad. To me the team did it's part and showed up and played to win, unfortunately the fans didn't finish their part.

I don't even think it rained that hard, I still had my camera out taking pictures, and this coming from a person who is very protective of devices that don't mix with rain.

That would be far too arrogant. Other teams might feel bad, so we can't do that - it's not the Christian thing to do.
Sometimes I wonder if Beecher reads FlameFans, because he seems to respond to any criticism of him pretty quickly. And I noticed that our offense wasn't 100% Mike Brown this week, which was a good thing.

in all honesty, the arrogant conversation is complaining that 13,000 fans left, when every other school in the Big South would kill to have 13,000 people show up in the first place.

Watching it on MASN right now, and it may just be me but it seems like the commercials for Liberty on this recording seem to have graphics from 1999.
