"History" wasn't on Coastal's side when they only had a team for 3 mor 4 years and made the playoffs. Granted they made some waves with a big win, but still ... no history.

Liberty has got to realize that we're going to get "the best game of the year" from every Big South opponent we face from here on out. We're the Champions and we have the target on our backs.

I honestly don't think that's the problem. There is absolutely no external motivation in a game at Charleston Southern. Look at our games this year:

at West Virginia: huge crowd, ton of energy to feed off of, we played well
vs NCCU: big crowd, ton of energy to feed off of, started slow but played well
at Lafayette: no crowd, no energy, didn't play that well, but won
vs JMU: fantastic atmosphere, energy through the roof coming from the stands, played well for 3 quarters
vs WVWC: big crowd, a bunch of energy to feed off of, played decent but not great
vs CCU: big crowd, homecoming, a ton of external motivation, played a great game
at CSU: no crowd, no energy, didn't play well, but won

Do you notice the trend here? It's the same reason CAA teams sometimes play bad at Hofstra or Towson or something like that. Or why SoCon teams play bad at Western or UTC. When you go from an extremely high energy high intensity crowd to a no intensity no energy crowd it's sometimes hard to get "up."

We need an emoticon for situations like this, so I don't have to type it out.

It's Charleston Southern's "Home Field Advantage"

Even with accepting all those points, playoff teams are playoff teams in front of 20,000 and in front of 200.

And the idea that we dont show up when fans dont points to a poorly coached team. I'll refuse to buy it.

Random stat note: This is the first time since 2006 (a run of three consecutive games: St. Pauls, Glenville State and Towson) that LU has allowed no more than one TD in consecutive games. Before that you go all the way back to 2001 (7 points to Delaware State and 13 to Wingate)

The only reason I've pointed it out is because I noticed it as a trend over the past two years.

PC 08 - Came off very high energy game, went to no energy stadium, played bad and lost
LC 09 - Came off very high energy game, went to no energy stadium, played bad but won
CSU 09 - Came off very high energy game, went to no energy stadium, played bad but won

We should schedule back to back DII games more often!

Really this feat is more substantial than the others. Even if Chuck South is the equivalent of a DII program.

Why are you making excuses? To be clear, you're stating that this team will play poorly given they play in games with no crowd and no energy? Man, we must suck at practice! This team has a lot of soul searching to do if they can't get up for games with no atmosphere. That drive and passion has to come from within.

I'm not making excuses. I'm pointing out a trend. It happens all across the country. Actually, it's been an improving trend. We used to lose games when we played bad (i.e. PC) but now we're winning those games.

I'm sure I could find examples of schools across the country that go into atmospheres where there is no energy whatsoever and they play poorly.
