I need some ideas on what's fun to do on Campus and Lynchburg nowadays. My wife and I came up for last year's game but spent more time in D.C. than in the Burg'. What is the weather supposed to be like for the weekend? Hopefully it doesn't get too cold being its been in the mid 90's down here in central Florida all week.

snowflex really is awesome, if you go, dont let the bunny hill make you think it sucks. You have no speed or momentum on the bunny hill, so when you get to the bottom, your going to fall, and because of that you cant carve or really do anything your supposed to do on a board, but when you get to the top mountain its a blast.

We have a new movie theatre at the mall, but it's $9.50 per movie.

You know, people are making a huge deal out of the $9.50 price tag (not picking on you Jim), but they conveniently forget it was $8.50 to go to the Carmike at the plaza and watch a movie in horribly uncomfortable seats in a smallish theater with old movie screens and sound systems.

Im going to develop a great plan for you.

Go to the Volleyball game Friday night. Then go to Football Saturday. Then go back to your hotel so you can feel your fingers again. Then go to church on Sunday. Then go home.

Or you can just wear gloves at the football game.

It's $8.50 with a student ID.

And honestly, it's worth it. To see a good movie with perfect audio and video it's worth $8.50.

I noted that gloves/warm clothes do not always work, specifically for the wife.

Since you'll already be cold, you have to work in at least one hockey game into your itinerary.

9.50 is a bit much for a movie when I can go to wal-mart and get a DVD for the same or lesser price and sit in the comfort of my own home to watch it whenever i want.

Couples Retreat may be worth the money. I wouldnt go, but it seems pretty funny.

As for Hockey, Friday night stars at what, 9:35? Volleyball game will be over by then so a double dip is a good possibility. I think theres also a bonfire held by Student Activities Friday night. Saturday's Hockey is at 3:35, so that's out.

HOWEVER

I think if you're coming down you should be camping out Friday night next to Williams Stadium.

Its not much cheaper in Farmville ($8.50, $6.50 w/ studennt ID) for the price of a movie in the same style theater they've had out there for at least 3 years now.

Anyway, I'll be at homecoming this year, this time as only a full-fledged alum. I'm wearing my Beat Coastal shirt to work tomorrow, but if I want to make it to the start of the vball game in time, I won't be able to change. Oh, decisions decisions...

I'm not saying $9.50 is bad, but I'd prefer to drop $7.50 and go to the matinee, which I did after class today. It's a great theatre, and I'm very thankful that Lynchburg has it (and the LU changed the 1980s rule that prohibited us from going to movies).

If you're going to the game on Saturday and it's raining, put the wife in a contractor bag (seriously) to keep her dry. That's a recommendation by a JMU fan, and I'm trying it this time.

I know this is totally :offtopic but it's a topic that will last longer than homecoming. $9.50 is probably worth it for the right movie. It's a nice theater. But the problem is, unless you're a single loser like HMO, you're gonna be paying $19 for a movie with your wife or girlfriend. And then we jump to the future, and my 3 kids are over 2 years old, I'm watching Toy Story 8 with my family for $47.50 (if the prices hold firm). And it'll most likely be 3D which is an additional $2 per person for the glasses. I think I'd rather hold off on that for the next 3 or 4 movies that my family wants to see and I'll have saved up enough for a BluRay player.
